Well I see a few things so try some of these:
Quote:
CdRomPeripheral : RS5907R TUV713Y 1.0 dtscsi Port 6 ID 0 DMA: Off

Get this back in dma mode - looks like your using it to read/rip so it may speed things up. Here's a link if needed:

Wow! You need to free up some memory! No multi-tasking & shut any unneccessary processes

Turn this option off - higher chance of errors. Let Nero copy to your hd 1st.

Not the best media - my liteon (not the same model) was not that fond of them. Firmware update may help. Switch to Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim

Uninstall Roxio - doesn't always play well with Nero. Run the zapper also to remove all traces. Here's a link:

Whew! Let's us know how it turns out!!

I think this is the latest firmware available for your Lite-on

I think http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/download.htm has not been updated, as I couldn't find anything newer than 08/08/05

@cyprusrom
Thanks for pointing that out! (no sarcasm) I like to try and stick with the manufacturers website when I can. I just realized that this one is where I usually update my firmware for my litey (probably should have cked my bookmarks 1st!!!):

@nhzero
Use the one cyprusrom gave or the one in this post for the latest one.

Okay, well, my LITEON SOHW-1633S is a BSG4 model, which is an OEM model that came with my eMachines T6414, so the first two firmwares won't update this drive. The last link just keeps reloading the same page when I click on the SOHW-1633S download link.

I also used the zapper tool.

The SCSI drive that you mentioned with DMA off is a Daemon Tools drive, so I'm not sure that DMA will help. This is also why I am not using cache to disk from that drive.

I tried to kill a bunch of memory eaters as well. So far it hasn't helped. All I can assume is that the media is bad, which SUCKS because DVD's are so expensive in 50-packs, and I got a good deal on these from Best Buy, which I can't return now... Here's the error messages I got after I followed all your advice:

Good media doesn't have to be xpensive. Best buy has frequent sales, ad you can buy a 50pk of Vebatims or Fuji MIJ for like $15

That is annoying on liteon's page!
Here's another site:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1934
This may help w/ the prodisc but again my experience w/ prodisc and a liteon sohw832 was hit ot miss.
As cyprusrom the good stuff doesn't have to be expensive - sales every week - best buy, staples, office depot etc. Check out the media forum - usually every week there's a thread on what's on sale & where.

I see you needed some help in another thread!
Gwen got to you first, here is another one:

ftp://ftp.ahead.de/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe

If is not hyperlinked, copy/paste in the browser should work.

binkie,
The fireplace should help!
Is it wood or propane? I hope you don't have to get outside to bring wood in, your lill' fins might freeze!
P.S And my spelling is worse than it was in highschool! I'll blame it on the cold also!

I have a SOHW-1633S "BSG4" which is evidently an OEM version of the drive. Can I directly flash any of the list of 1633S versions that are listed? If I can, which one? There are BS0C, BS0H, BS0K, BS0R, BS0S, and BS0Y listed in that link. Thanks again for the help!

BSOY is the one - it the latest. See if that helps the prodisc. It always good to keep the firmware up to date - it teaches the drive read?write strategies on media.
Let us know what happens!
