ok I have an itching to find out what people are using for a computer (total specs that would apply) to encode their dvd9's. In order for us to make solid comparison's we need to talk about specific movies, and so on, you remember high school and the variables, we don't want any here. so we ought to be using the same program etc. screenshots are a must!

why would it matter not a whit? If you have all the time in the world and have no job/life/respect for the fact that time is money I guess than it wouldn't matter a whit to you. I on the other hand respect the fact that my time is actually worth something.

Quote: you remember high school and the variables
That is one reason it matters not a whit, there are too many variables.

how about an attempt , like saying how long it takes you or trying at least what do you people do just post garbage or actually try to accomplish something-give me an average , something , don't be a lamo-there aren't really that many variables. I mean really how did you become an AD addict by posting crap about your girlfriend.

holy crap that's funny , an 8088 that was my first pc-that's really funny, it usually takes me about an hour for each movie on my amd 3200+ pioneer dvr-110d, 1.5 gig ram, using DVD Shrink not sure about the compression ratio's. thanks for the ideas on how to be more specific for this post. Shoot I just did the math for your braveheart and it was over 21 days. Wow, now that was a wait! Now for my 1.7 with 384 ram (I think, my next posts will be way more specific) it takes about-well I just checked for zathura, it took 2 hours and 17 minutes. yea it's 1.7 with 384 ram (celeron), 128 l2 cache. I have a friend who has a 1.7 also with same ram, 256 l2 cache, most other specs are the same, he is claiming about 30 minutes per shrink-this is where my idea for this post started-he is also using dvr-110d (pioneer)

Tralblazr, watch the attitude & show respect to other members. what you are asking is impossible as all computers are different both hardware & software so will always have variables. live with it.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. I mean a little more than a joke would be completely possible. Why do people talk about benchmark scores then. 'splain that to me-that's all I'm saying it's not a whit point-it's simply a comparison that can be made on some level. "In order for us to make solid comparison's we need to talk about specific movies, and so on, you remember high school and the variables, we don't want any here." When I said this I meant as far as the actual movie and menus left in and taken out and so forth, so maybe this may clear things up for some people. In other words we can't really compare a movie that is taking up a full DVD9 to one that is taking up 1/2. I don't know about any of you but I have also had some full dvd9's that encoded in very short amount of times. So if that has cleared up the fact that I'm not talking about the computer hardware needs to remain constant, it's the actual movie that would need to be the same with the same menus and so forth left in or out, program(s) used to encode it, and so on could we actually get something useful out of this thread. As with comparing anything though you want to know what's being used to produce the results, hence the need to know the pc specs. Thank you for your support.

but you might want to apologise to arniebear about this comment "I mean really how did you become an AD addict by posting crap about your girlfriend." as that was uncalled for. also to post 2500+ posts is dedication & not posts of crap as not tolerated on this site.

Ok sorry for being a jerk. This thread is obviously going no where.
and btw I've seen threads on "what would you do if your girlfriend cheated on you with another girl" If that's not crap, than I must have not realized what site I was on. Thought this was more a techie site rather than a dating advice site. So how am I to know that 2500+ posts wasn't about that. Again , sorry arniebear, and if there is anyone who has anything productive to say on this "benchmark type of thread". I didn't post here to get into a flame war about nonsense. Take care everyone. Hope no one is that upset but it's really not something "matters not a whit". In fact it could make a lot of people happy if they could figure out a way to make their encoding go faster. Really I don't think that to come in and say it matters not a whit is showing respect. I don't have to post 2500+ in here to prove I have a brain.

sweet man , now we are talking a bit. I have yet to use 1click. Now I have something new to try in order to get my time back a bit. Our specs are pretty similar , you have the 1/2 a gig ram on me, I'm putting my stuff to the 16meg cache sata drive from maxtor I have. My vid card is ati sapphire 9600 pro 256MB, although I don't think this plays a factor, correct me if I'm wrong.
