Every thing appears to be upto date except for nero, you should be at version 6.6.1.4.

get it here:
http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

You're absolutely right when you stated that "i think ive gone from cheap to cheaper"

Here, nero states the same thing:

********************************************************************

Your recorder just doesn't like that media and since it's firmware is up to date, that only way to correct this is to throw that cheap stuff away and get sony or verbatim disks (made in japan).

Have you checked your firmware? The latest firmware for your drive is 424, not 203d (sorry).

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/Nec/Nec-ND-6500A-firmwa...

Actually the Nero version he's running is the latest Nero 6 that is still compatable with DVD Shrink. Alot of people are going back to the version 6.6.0.18 because the newer doesn't like shrink.

Reality is an illusion and subject to interpretation.
