I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL INSTRUCTIONS FOR BURNING A DVD IN NERO 7 (USING YOU GUIDE) & SUCCESSFULLY GET TO THE LAST STEP WHERE YOU HIT 'BURN'. HERE MY PROBLEM LIES. A WINDOW APPEARS 'SAVE IMAGE FILE'. IT IS DEFAULTED TO:
SAVE IN: VIDEO_TS
FILE NAME: IMAGE
SAVE AS TYPE: NERO IMAGE FILES (*.nrg)
IF I HIT SAVE, IT SAYS IT'S BURNING (GOD KNOWS WHERE) BECAUSE IT COMES UP WITH THE PROMPT THAT BURNING WAS SUCCESSFUL, BUT WHEN I CHECK THE DISC, IT IS EMPTY.
CAN ANYONE HELP, I AM AT MY WITS END!!!

1st, Read the forum rules... No all caps.
2nd, If it's burning an image file... It's most likely burning to the hard drive. Or it's trying to burn to the image drive (basically a pretend drive) that you can create using Nero.
3rd, We can't be sure without a log file (located in your Nero folder, called nerohistory.log). Before posting logs, make sure to edit out your serial number (it will be a series of numbers and letters separated by -'s).

I keep it very simple, I use DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.5 to write dvd to hard drive, then use Shrink 3.2.0.15 (with Nero set as default for burning). I use shrink to re-author the movie, removing all none english languages, select title 1, delete the end credits following cast and backup to disk ( I use an external Liteon DVDRW-SOHW-1633s USB connected drive. No problems. I'm using Nero Express 6. Nero recently released upgrades (Nero 6.6.1.4, Nero Mix 1.4.0.35, NVE 3.1.0.25 when I downloaded and installed them, shrink was unable to default to Nero for the burn. Fortunately I created a restore prior to installing the updates and restored back to Nero 6.6.0.18 and other previous software versions. I would suspect the Nero updates were not "User Friendly" towards Shrink. Would appreciate input from others who have had similar problems since upgrading to Nero7 or the Nero6 updates.
I'm running a MS 6540 motherboard, with a 2.40 gigahertz Intel Pent 4, with 1024mb RAM. Compaq/HP says a Presario 4410US can't be upgraded but if one installs a new motherboard, a P-4 processor, and a 500watt power supply, it works. The only original parts are the drives and exterior case.

FireKat,
Sorry about the large caps. I checked my nerohistory.log & beside 'Recorder' it says <Image Recorder>. That is also what appears in the drop-down box in Nero. The only other option it gives me in this drop-down box is my E Drive (which is my DVD/CD drive). But when I select this, the following prompt appears 'Sorry, this version of Nero supports recorders only'. So I don't really have an option to send the files here, which is where they're needed to burn. It might be easiest if I try & get an earlier version of Nero as bwgoff suggests? I'm no computer wizard unfortunately but if anyone can solve my dilemma, it would be much appreciated...

Melg,
If you have a DVD burner on your system, the files need to be guided to it for burn. Image Recorder is burned onto your hard drive.
Reverting back to a previous version of Nero may not help. Check your ide ribon cable and make sure it didn't go out (best way for newbies to do this is to simply replace the cable with a new one). Without seeing your nerohistory.log for ourselves, we can not see where your problem lies.
Does Nero show all of the drives on your system? It should show both hard drives and cd/dvd drives in the log file previously mentioned.
Bwgoff,
Alot of people are having issues with Nero 6.6.1.4 and Nero 7.0.5.4.
If running Nero 6, stay with 6.6.0.18.
If running Nero 7, stay with 7.0.1.4.
You can find links directly to both versions among the forum posts in Nero discussion. If I remembered where they were listed, I'd post them for you here. If I run into them again, I'll come back and post them for you.
Good luck.
