I have several AVI movie files that I'd really like to convert to VCDs so that I can watch them from my DVD player. I know that my DVD player plays VCDs already. I first used AVI2VCD's decompression utility to decompress the AVI, then I used it to convert to MPEG format. I then used Nero 6 Ultra to create the VCD. I've tried this twice now, and when I try to play them on both of my DVD player I get the message : "Incorrect Disk". Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks so much in advance.
There are thousand reasons for your played doesn't read the disc. For example, maybe you mis-used Nero selecting CD-ROM template, instead of VCD...
Make this thing: create a good mpeg-1 as you know how to do (splitting it in 2, if the movie is > 80').
Then load the mpegs with VCDGear and create the images. Then burn.
If you simply want to do AVI -> VCD, try TMPGenc 2.5. It is free, and if you don't need to load MPEG-2 files (DVD, SVCD) or making them it is easy ; more, there are many guides about it, in http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/.
