sorry if i do this incorrectly, this is my first thread, i have searched for a few days and couldn't find what i needed. i have downloaded what seems to be newer type files that are supposedly AVI. however, when i try to to convert them using tmpenc the video points fine to the right file but there is no audio file associated. from what I have read it might be compressed audio so I tried to use vdub to extract the audio, but it says no audio decompressor for this file. The video is xvid and the audio is ac3, I do have the ac3 filter installed. Any help on this would be most appreciated. Thanks for all the help.

I am not sure wat i m going to say but there r chances it will work.
Open ur .avi file in virtualdub and click -->File --> Save wav. This will obviously save the wav from .avi, now next thing u need to do is download the program called BeSweet. Download it from http://dspguru.notrace.dk/stable.htm note that u need to download Besweet 1.4 as well as BeSweet GUI and extract them in same folder.
Next: convert the wav file we saved before into mp2 using besweet, its pretty easy to use.
Next: Open TMPGEnc, take the video file as video input, no audio input.
Click Load->Extra->Unlock, select ES (Video only), and in Setting select your desired settings. This will generate an m1v file without audio.
The purpose of this step is, when movie.avi is used as video input, TMPGEnc sometimes doesn?t take audio input. Then select File->Mpeg Tools->Mutiplex. Take the generated movie.m1v as video input; take the movie.mp2 file generated by BeSweet as the audio input, select MPEG-1 VideoCD. The generated new mpg file will have video as well as audio.
