Xvid to DVD Audio Problems

I downloaded a Xvid video file and can play on my PC. When I try to burn a DVD the audio track is left off. I even converted file to mpeg 2, still no sound. Any suggestions?

try extracting the sound in VirtualDub or give xvid2dvd a go at it

Just to be sure, use VirtualDubMod and do Stream__Stream List. You know, sometimes AVI have an AC3 auio stream which DVD players can read, but which most of the encoders cannot load (I never used xvid2dvd, though).
VirtualDubMod can demux the AC3 stream and you'll load that AC3 stream as 'audio' with any authoring application.

Not sure if this is your problem but it solved my audio sync problems

If you have downloaded a movie check the XviD / DivX file using GSpot and find out if it is NTSC or PAL format. You can do this by looking at the frame rate, if it 25 fps then it PAL, if it is 23fps or 29 fps it is NTSC.

I was using VSO DivXtoDVD but I think the same applies to some other packages. I set the TV format to match my TV i.e. PAL - Wrong should be set to TV format of original file otherwise you will get audio sync problem

Alternatively extract the audio steam and decompress it using VirtualDub and Tmpg to re-encode the movie into the new format with the decompressed sound, however it is a lot of work which can be avoided as most DVD players support both PAL and NTSC so just use the original tv format
