PS2 FREEZES AT BROWSER SCREEN

My playstation 2 broke a while back and I opened it up and cleaned the laser and it fixed it. A friend of mine has a broken ps2 but it's different than a DRE. It starts up and when there isn't a disk in it it goes to the browser but the bunch of dots in a circular motion move for a split second and it freezes. When a game is put in there and starts it up the disk spins but stops when it is about to play, goes into the browser and freezes again. I already broke the warranty seal and opened it. Thanks.

Hmm, what did you clean the laser with? It might also need re-aligned.

Its not the laser the playstation could read disks and everything else before i took out the cmos battery- now i put it back in and the ps2 freezes everything else with the ps2 is fine.

Well, a friend of mine had a weak CMOS battery, change the battery and have a try, and not just that, make sure you put it in correctly, when the battery is dead or not inserted correctly, normally that galaxy rotating screen does stop spinning.

Yes, a friend of mine replaced his with a duracell battery same size then it started working perfectly again!
