ive been converting movies from avi to dvd for sum time now but im wondering if theres any better programs i can use to convert them to vob format im using winvideo avi converter.
any ideas of wots better

It depends.
- CCE is very, very good, but expensive (2500 US$). More, to change syste (for PAL <-> NTSC you need other utilties: the 1st to 'pulldown' the framerate (25 <-> 29.97 fps) and the 2nd to change the screen resolution (an AVI is like 640x360 [(16*Y)x(9*Y)]; PAL DVD is 720x576 and a NTSC DVD is 720x480 which are not 16:9 but add black borders).
- TMPGEnc is easy to use, it also has useful templates (PAL DVD, NTSC DVD and so on), but it's extremely slow, when itencoder VBR (as most of the DVD must be)
I have heard of many others, but I used only those two...
