oh yes but what is ur actual problem
if it is a black screen at the start then try updating ur firmware. Also what type of disks are u using, generally ps2s like -r but if u have + r then u have to booktype them.
regarding ur media, sony is good verbatim is good and taiyo yuden is good, stay away frm memorex, data write and all those shit companies.
also post ur manufaturers id for the sony cos they maybe fake etc.
and also always use dvd decryptor and burn the game at 4x

DNAS is a part of the game used for the online features
when you make a back up and want to include the online
features you have to patch the back up copy with the DNAS of the original copy.

well, the only way to find out what chip you have is either to ask the person who did it, or open it up, find the chip and post up what is written on it, with a picture if possible.

I know some chips have logo's on start up. Like when loading a game with a DMS4 chip the word TOXIC comes up with a white skull.
I beleive the Matrix chips also say their name when loading a game up.

As far as making back ups there are a few factors to making good back ups.
1. always use quality media. I suggest a good 8X DVD-R
Philips, Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ritek

2. make sure the firmware for your burner is up to date, and if not update it. This will help alot with media compatibility and burn quality

3. burn at half the speed of your DVD rating, like burn tha above
8X DVD-R at 4X burning speed.

4. if you have a good chip it should just load back ups no problem. If it is not really a chip, but an eject mod that stops the PS2 from resetting when you open it then you would still need to get Swap Magic boot discs. So knowing what chip you have is really important.

5. if you bought +R DVD's then search the forums here for "bitsetting" and try using that. You can bitset the +R DVD so that the PS2 will read it as a DVD-Rom which is more compatible.
If your PS2 is a V4 or below it may not read +R at all

6. try getting a laser lens cleaning disc made for game consoles and clean both the PC burner laser and PS2 laser

DVD Decrypter is such a simple process that i figure the burning part you are doing right. Just take a disc and go to
MODE->ISO->READ to copy to the hard drive
MODE->ISO->WRITE to copy to a new DVD

that is about all i can think of and some of this has already been said i know.

yeah mine has a skull and says toxic and HELL NO i did not mod my ps2 and never ever intend to do anything on those lines, my ps2 had a few loose screws after the guy modded it causing it to be louder when the disk was wiring, i was even gonna send it back just to have the screws titened LOL
but ye steimy has hitten the nail on the head do what he says

Thanks all. Sorry for the delay had to pick son and cook dinner. So, the PS2 we bought in Asia has a mod chip. Is there a popular mod chip that is more common in Asia? I do noticed that the DVD in Asia are gold in color whereas the DVD we buy here in the good ol US is silver. Also FYI, I was able to burn a CD game with Nero7 works just fine. So, what gives....The PS2 has a mod chip in it right if I was able to backup the CD game? Huh boy.....not sure on this one.

Mud6, I did try burning at 4x still no luck.
