usb memory stick not recognized by windows xp

windows will not recognize my USB memory stick.. Is there a way to fix this?

what does it show or not show? have you tried it in another computer to see if good or bad?

after trying it in another computer it works just fine.. i think i may have deleted the driver off of the computer it no longer works in, but i dont know for sure.. i downloaded the driver from sandisk homepage and windows xp will not let me install it becuase it supposedly does not need to be installed.. i am not sure what i did.. but i was messing around with windriver or something like that.. a type of software to create drivers for windows.. not sure if that messed it up or not.. thanks for the help

The drive still does not work in the one computer.. dont know what to do about it

what does it show or not show when u plug it into the computer? have u tried it in different USB ports? is the computer USB or USB2 and the other computer USB or USB2 and whats the adaptor

yea if it an older computer it might be a USB1 and not a 2.5 or 2,I don't remeber

the USB used to work fine in this computer.. It just does not recognize it at all.. The pen drive lights up like it is supposed to but it doesnt come up in the my computer.. or manage drives.. i have tried to reinstall a driver for it but it says there is no need to install a driver for xp and then disapears and i cant get it to work.

try removing all the usb drivers from the system (control Panel/system/hardware -> Divice manager then USB controlers and remove every one), then restart your system and try again, hopefully this will fix it.
