Like many of you, I have problems with my Azureus and very very slow downloads. I tried everything, portforwarding, bypassing the router, deactivating my windows firewall, open the ports up in the firewall, reconfiguring Azureus and tring a different client such as uTorrent.
But nothing worked.

Then I came across an article about my ISP using Bandwidth Shaping Technology. See the following

So that is probably why so many of you are having much trouble.
It's probably your ISP so you have to find a port that they are not using this technology on. Maybe find out the port that uses Voice over IP.

Interesting

Why??

I know the problem is with the traffic shaping, I changed my port to a Voice of IP port that my ISP uses and now I am getting downloads of up to 300 kb/s. Yesterday I got as high at 500 kb/s!

I got the same problem after recently joining Toucan.

Whilst there are no download limits your bandwidth is "managed" at peak times.

I'm currently downloading a fairly well seeded file from Wild-bytes and only getting about 7kB/s on a 2Mb connection.

The only consolation is that after midnight it will go back to normal speed.

The lovely staff at Rogers is coming out with their own brand of music downloading in partnership with Yahoo. They are in direct competition with Apple. Rogers is pissing off alot of Ipod owners with this new technology. So there is the motive for you. I don't think it will be around for long because people will jump ship and join another ISP.

Seems that the don't touch the Voice of IP port because I am getting great downloads at all times.
