The log is incomplete. From the little piece, it looks like your burner does not recognize the media, or you are burning too fast. if you put the entire log it will give more info. Remove SN before posting.

Your drive is not even recognizing your blanks, your media code should be here. A firmware update could solve this.

But your firmware is current according to RPC1, I would suggest a different brand of media.

@treezy

In addition to what LOCOENG had mentioned, below are what I see:
Quote:
Nero Version: 7.0.0.0
This is the very first version of Nero 7 and it has a lot of bugs, so it's wise to get Nero 7.0.1.4 or 7.0.1.4B (these 2 are the best versions so far). I've been burning with 7.0.1.4 and I've never experienced any issues whatsoever.
Quote:
Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: RITEKF - 1
Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193
Hmmm... I think it's wise to try YUDEN, Verbatim or Hitachi Maxell (made in japan). I've seeen more failures from Ritek than any other high quality brands of media. Ritek is decent, but it won't hurt to switch to Taiyo Yuden, Verbs. or Hitachi Maxell for a change. I've used these 3 top media (hundreds and hundreds "thousand" of backups) and I've never encountered any issues when burning or playback. However, the choice is yours.

Again, this means that your burner doesn't really like the media you're using. Perhaps it is a defected blank or a defected dye. See above reply for other high quality media.

Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s)
Try to burn at 4X on your next dvd burning project. 4X is the best and safest speed for burning. Yes, it is true that I've burned 4X (80% of burning) and 8X (20% of burning), but I highly recommend to burn at 4X to avoid getting coasters. However, the choice is yours.

Below is an example of a successful burned log taken from mine. You can compare mine to yours and see if you'll notice the differences, there should be some in there. **NOTE: how I burned to the very last edge at 4451MB using top notch media, YUDEN000T02 and it still a success.

7.0.0.0 is the version I still use, never upgraded any of it and have had no problems. But I don't use every feature of the suite.

@LOCOENG buddy,

LOL, indeed. It's true though and it's a proven fact. I even went as far as 4460MB sometimes and I still got successful burned.

If you have a Nvidia motherboard, you have to let Bios handle DMA. That's what I read i some other threads. The operating system can override bios though and set DMA off, so you have to go in Bios and turn off plug-n-play for operating system.

yeah i have a nforce3 {nvidia}mobo. Ill just leave it as it is and let it do everyhing by itself. Suprisingly I have not ran into that problem again even used the same media and same speeds. kind of strange, but i will slow it down a bit 8x is not very stable although the reason i was burning that fast in the 1st place is those ritekF1 are 16x media obviously not so great ones i have some verbatim 16x those will probably work better.just wanted to use those riteks {office depot brand} up i have bout a hundred of em. anyhow Thanks for the reply

You da man...LOL

@treezy

You are very welcome.

Ritek's used to be considered in the upper echelons of blank media, but as of late they have let more than a few people down. You should be happy with the Verbs.

Happy burning.

I don't know why, several times Nero did not customized the size to 4300Mb as I asked him to.Still don't know why. Anyhow, the burn was succesful. I looked at the log, and i see last address to be written 4460Mb! I say sh@#t, why? Anyway, it happen again with a different burn(so Nero Recode 2 must be acting up). Everything else works fine though,just would not customize as I asked. Not asking for a fix, but any suggestions welcome!

Anyway, reading your success after venturing "where no man has gone before", I did a scan of the disc burned all the way to 4460Mb(that's what stupid Recode wanted). The disc was a Verbatim +R X8. I don't know if my Nec 3550A is such a great scanner, even though it burns great. While scanning, the quality of the disc was 98 all the way to 89 percent of the reading. By the time the scan ended, during the last 10% the quality dropped to 55. The disc plays with absolutely no problems.

Another one, same thing, but this time with a Ritek 03(maxell +R X8), the burn failed.

So, did you do a Q Scan of that infamous disc burned all the way to the edge? just curious...

To customize with Nero Recode 2:

<> click on arrow down, right after you've launched Nero Recode 2
<> type in 4460MB and OK, that's it...

If you're using top notch media like YUDEN, then you SHOULD NEVER have to worry about getting bad burned or poor quality scanned. I've always customized all of my backups to anywhere from 4400MB - 4460MB. And yes, I did get good results on the quality scans as well. However, I only burned at 4X (50%) and 8X(50%) sometimes. Below is an example of 4450MB scanned that I burned yesterday.

Here is another awesome scanned, again from the one and only famous YUDEN000T02 (8X DVD+R MADE IN JAPAN) book typing as DVD-ROM. I've just burned this a few hours ago (SAW 2, US version, Region 1). Taiyo Yuden ROCK!!

Are you sure? Because my Nero Recode 2 will take anything that I customized. Look at pictures for reference for the Video Quality differences. Again, with top notch media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo" and Hitachi Maxell (made in japan), you can't go wrong with 4450MB - 4460MB.

@gwendolin

As for Nero Vision 4 or Nero Vision Express 3, you can only do DVD, DVD9 or DVD-1 (8cm). I usually just go with DVD and if I went overboard (with 4 or 5 anime episodes), then I'll just have Nero Recode 2 customized to 4460MB later on, once Nero Vision 4 is done with the converting/transcoding process. With 4460MB you'll get less compress, meaning the movie will be better on the quality in results.
