Is it a bad idea to stand the Xbox 360 vertically? I know most of the people who had problems with the PS2 had been standing it vertically. Is it likely that it will cause problems in the long or short run for my 360?
Thanks!!!

Yeah, just never move the system at all. There is a huge warning about moving the system. If you do you could break the game and the system. Also, people say that keping the system upright could burn your carpet - WRONG!

well, other gaming consoles have never scratched like that, so many users probably didnt even think about it. Mine scratched and I will admit i tipped it on accident when i knocked it over, my bad. But the other game (project gotham) i did not touch my xbox 360 and its starting to scratch in the same pattern.

Well man, since you tipped it before I am not surprised to know that you are getting scraches. You probably hurt the system by knocking it down internally. You gotta be careful with this system! Sorry.

If you are really not sure what will hurt the system, you should really read ALL of the instructions and EVERYTHING that comes with the system. I did and I am not having a single problem with it, even when I had the system standing upright. That stuff is there FOR A REASON L@@K at it.

all i know is that keeping it horizontal helops to cool it down as all of the hot air is rising at the same time without going to the harddrive like it does when it is verticle.

Watch out for dampness, if your putting it at your window.

I agree putting it by your window is a bad idea. Dampness and electronics don't mix you should use a fan or try that Fan stand. I bought 1 for 19.99 it has a built in fan in the the base of the stand, you plug it in a usb pert to power the fan.(the usb port by your ethernet port). It seems to be working.

Well, I would not reccomend putting the 360 by a window. Its not a very good thing when the sun comes out...

I dont think the sun would do it any good through the day, and the dampness 'afterdawn' won't help.
but, its up to you mate...

The 360 is basicly a pc , which should be kept cool and dry. I don't believe MS would cover any system that is left by a window or out so the sun could get to it. Your 360 should be kept safe and away from a window and moisture.
Fresh air carries moisture in it that will break down your system.
