freezes don't conversion PLEASE HELP!!

hey i am having a big problem converting my avi files to dvd..I have tried a lot of programs but every single one i have used they all froze during the conversion process which ended up freezing my computer..the programs i have used where good programs...i also have a good computer i just don't know why it always freezes while its converting..if any1 has any ideas please post..any comments will be appreciated

have you tried avi2dvd
any error message on the freze
what os are you using ?
what are you system specs

yes i have tried avi2dvd..and no error message comes up it just freezes..I have Windows Xp and my system specs are
Amd Athlon Xp 2600
512mb Ram
Geforce Fx 5200

But it always freezes everytime i try to convert an avi file.Is there anything i have to do to get it to work? I downloaded divx codecs.Is there somethin i have to modify on my pc to make it work?..If any1 has any comments to help me I would really appreciate it

try DivXtoDVD it can correct file errors durring processing
the old free version is here

it may be the files are corupt in some way
also check to make sure dma is enabled I dont think a low transfer rate would cause it but mayde
