This particular version of Nero is causing problems, I would suggest you uninstall it and re install this version until the bugs have been ironed out

Alright I downloaded the different version of Nero and it's still giving me the same error... and I tried bumping the speed down.. any other ideas.. i'm on the verge of tears or violence towards my drive..

Okay so ....I'm a retard and should have tried this earlier, but apparantly the machine doesn't even realize there is a burner, I opened up Windows Media Player to just burn a basic music cd and it's not finding any device capapble. In explorer it's listed as CD-ROM but properties of the drive seem to be configured correctly. Any ideas?

I would suggest using DVD Shrink (output as ISO) then burn w/ DVD Decrypter personally , I have always had Nero as burning suite since Ive had a PC but never needed 'Recode'
There is other good freeware out there that will help you along your way ;-)

I didnt realise I'd posted about same time & hadnt even seen post about machine not seeing burner , I would totally agree w/ Gwendolin ... uninstall & restart [xp should see new hardware on boot up anyway]
