I have searched for information on this setting and have not been able to find anything. Can anyone help guide me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

So both boxes need to be checked? The option to convert from LB 4:3 to 16:9 is right above this ITU option.
I can't wait to get all of this stuff figured out.

letterboxed 4:3 is a way of formatting the images to fit to a 4.3 screen by adding black bars along the top and bottom of the picture you will find this in alot of the early nineties movie's.

the 16:9 (anamorphic) ratio is adjusted to fit by your player and is processed less to conform to your screen! so you will recieve a better picture when viewing the 16:9!

so to process some older titles you may see an improvement in using the lb4:3 to 16:9 to update to newer authoring methods!

here's a more indepth reading on the matter!

on the itu (inverse telecine??)setting my interest's have been piqued so I'm reading up hope I wasn't wrong!

I don't think you understand my question. I am aware of what 4:3 & 16:9 represent.
What I don't understand is what this setting is on DVD-RB.
"Adjust for ITU Aspect Ratio (16:9)" What is it adjusting?
I am aware that by checking the box "convert from LB 4:3 to 16:9" Does what it states.

l8ter, if anyone has the attitude it is you, your first post was useless & pointless.
Exactly where does he imply you are an idiot? I see no such sentence or implication. Also, you will note snoland has not edited any of his posts. You offered little help, yet you treated this member with disrespect. In spite of you sarcasm & bad manners, snoland still showed you respect in the face of adversity.
I am simply amazed ath the attitude shown by you l8ter, you should know better. You owe snoland an apology, I hope you don't treat all posters with such high disregard....

Not from where I am sat did you answer in your first post, you may be able to intimidate others with your attitude (which again sucks), but you will not intimidate me. Your brand of sarcasm & wit is just the problem we have on this site, not surprising that so many people have left.
You answered no such question, just an explanation as to aspect ratios. that is all. I have no desire to start a flame war, but if you read the posts, you will see my point of view.

BYE.

@pulsar my first answer was "to allow you to change aspect ratio's"
it's been found that this feature is to improve the process in some "harder to conform movie's, I don't know what you are reading into my post's but it appears you have been bullied I was one of those that left in the first place some time ago!

so when I thank you there are several elements of truth implied! alot of times truth is said in jest, but this is not one of those times!

I just wish you would look further into the matters or had been there when the posting started! to fully understand!
the second post's was an attempt to explain just how ratio's have changed since the dawn of aspect authoring!
not to tell you what they are I guess I 'm not speaking in details again why I added the link!
intimidated?? seems there is something tarnishing my aura around here this was not an attempt in primitive scare tactics or some "Neanderthalic" bullying technique why can I not reply to you w/ out being viewed as some sort of beast here to stir you into an emotional frenzy!sorry you don't like me though I haven't figured out why?

once again I appologize and thank you for your input on these matters although I will tell you it's not necessary you have taken upon your self to right the wrongs around here a truely huge cross to bear! I commend you!
shall you need assistance call on me seems I intimidate some folks around here lol!*sigh*

Don't know exactly, l8ter, though I do know I was sort of cringing as I got to the end of each sentence. Just a thought. Have a nice day. :-)
