What is the difference between these two? Is Fab better for using with Rebuilder?

Well to start off, DVD Decryptor "God Rest It's Soul" was once the most awsome program out, due to legal issues is no longer supported but still used by many. It has the ability to decrypt in file or iso mode and burn all in one. Being that it is not updated nor supported anymore some of the new copyprotections render it usless to a degree. However it is still one of those program to keep in reserve if all else fails.
DvD FAB has gained quite a bit of ground since the so called demise of DVD Decryptor I have never used it but the buzz is that it works quite well along with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode. To make a long story short DVD FAB is updated to the current copy protection DVD Decryptor is not.

everything that Tdisom said is all true...... I just want to add that I never had to use DVDFab Decrypter yet! All my ripping to hard drive is still used by the king of the rippers: DVDDecrypter! Just yesterday I ripped: RENT, THE WEATHER MAN, NORTH COUNTRY, WRATH OF THE DRAGON G-D, THE THING ABOUT MY FOLKS, all newly released movies of 2/21/06 without any problem at all and I dind't use AnyDVD with it! then I used DVD-RB Pro using CCE for the best quality and burnt with ImgBurn which is built right into DVD-RB! had fun doing it..... and my times ran from 59-112-120mins in total from beginning to end(burning included!) I love DVDDecrypter (winner and still CHAMPION of the rippers) and DVD-RB! the best there is!

just as a side note i use decrypter with AnyDVD, they seem to work well together
the reason why is decrypter rips to hard drive faster and better than fab and AnyDVD breaks the latest encryptions

Well the difference is, DVD Decrypter isn't no longer building new versions, Fab decrypter is.

for those that may interested and if you have AnyDVD try this, open decrypter go to ->tools->settings->I/O-> change the interface to elbycdio and decrypter will simply rip to hard drive and AnyDVD will break all the latest encryptions, i use this method because fab has failed me more than once and any other method to defeat the latest sony protection is just too complicated to be bothered learning
300+ backups with this method and zero problems

zest,
Re the change in I/O settings in Decrypter. What does this change do?
I just got AnyDVD and still use decrypter (I want MDS files for dl burning). Anyway, from my understanding, AnyDVD does all the cracking work, and basically presents the dvd to decrypter or any other program as unencrypted. However, when I open decrypter (with AnyDVD on), I often see "possible structure protection found" "1 area has been marked as 'suspect'" and "dummy sectors will be inserted where necessary". I'm wondering why decrypter is saying this if it is seeing a 'perfect' copy of the dvd via AnyDVD?
Is this what the I/O setting changes?

I would respectfully disagree with several of the posts above, especially those that seem to imply that the "only difference" between these two programs is the fact that one is being updated, while the other is not.
In the interest of accuracy, users of DVDFabDecrypter would do well to remember that this program is specifically designed to ignore lots of read errors. This is its method for trying to get around the newer forms of copy protection (Sony ARccOS, especially).
DVDDecrypter is designed NOT to ignore any read errors. It will always stop at the slightest problem and let one know that there was some sort of problem.
The difference can be critical, especially for those who are trying to make certain they get a completely accurate rip, with all of the video and all of the data intact. It can be critical for those who might try to use the programs with a dirty disc, or a scratched disc, or a damaged disc. DVDDecrypter will alert you in such cases, so you can try to correct the problem, before you end up with a lot of missing video. DVDFabDecrypter will just keep chugging along, in such cases, and one may not know they have problems until after a final burn, when they go to view the complete result. (Unless one is planning to watch the entire compilation on the PC prior to a burn).
There are other differences, as well, but the one listed above is the reason I avoid DVDFabDecrypter at all costs.

Bruce999- Thanks for the info on DVD FabDecrypter , I did'nt know that ! I use DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, & DVD FAB-DECRYPTER . Depending of course on what works for the particular dvd ! although I tend to prefer DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter as first choices in my software arsenal . I only use dvdfab decrypteras a last resort ! But I still thank you for the heads up on it anways ! Peace & happy burning!!!

What's the difference between DVD Decrypter and DVDFAB Decrypter?
<> DVD Decrypter <>
*** PRO ***
<> can still rip 95% (dvds successfully), not the latest ARccOS though
<> can rip any dvds/movies 100% successfully with PSL plugin via PgcEdit
<> a ripper/decrypter and a burning engine (ISO Image)
*** CON ***
<> no more updates
<> can not burn VIDEO_TS file
<><> DVDFAB Decrypter <><>
*** PRO ***
<> can rip 100% (any dvds/movies successfully)
<> updates regularly to handle ARccOS and RipGuard flawlessly
<> one of the greatest FREE ripper/decrypter engine at the moment
*** CON ***
<> can not burn
In contrast, both are good and useful, so get them both.

@tdisom....... I got this system last year April 30th. It took some doing..... I first bought it with less stuff online and then 2 days later found out that Dell was doing an after tax refund sale! Sooooo I cancelled my order.... and got 33% off the order! A savings of over $2000.00!! I had both Business and Personal departments fighting for my sale! each one was giving me free stuff with the order! I wound up with the Business Department because it was a business expense soooooo I wanted a tax break for tax reasons this year! Originally it cost me over $6000.00 but with the discount it was only $4200.00! it was the best buy I ever made! I love my computer and it rocks! After a year I still like what I got and there are lots of computers out there that just doesn't come close!

I use DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD too. Although DVD Decrypter can rip most movies there are some new physical decryptions. DVD Decrypter by itself can't rip a DVD with Sony Arccos Puppetlock.

I always wondered who bought those high priced systems...LOL
I built one on the alienware site, and got it up to 19 grand...oh if only I were single.
Bruce and alkohol have said it best...both are free why not use both?
