howdy,

i just transcoded two .avi files using the divx 6.1.1 codec. i don't know what the original files were encoded with but my objective was to shrink both files' resolution and bitrate. that much i succeeded in.

however, i have a strange problem where the runtime of the outputted .avi files is almost double that of the input files when i play them in VLC or WMP.

ex. video #1 is originally 1:30:00. after transcoding its new runtime (as VLC and WMP report) is ~3:00:00. gspot correctly reports the transcoded file's runtime as 1:30:00. when the file is played in winamp, it plays for the full 1:30:00 and stops; in VLC and WMP once the 1:30:00 mark is reached the screen goes black and the timer keeps ticking for another hour or so.

any idea what's going on? i searched here and on google but couldn't find anything. everything about the output files is fine except for the runtime.

thanks...
