i use Nero 7 to encode movies to dvd and have done for the last 6 months now but since December 2005 i have had problems in playback...i play the finished dvd in my dvd player and find that there are small pauses like a stop and start motion while the movie is playing why is this?

Bare in mind that i have used different programs ROXIO 8, TMPGEnc, downgraded from Nero 7 to Nero 6, converted the movie files to mpeg 1 then converted to dvd, upgraded my system, defragged my hard drive, updated my system, done a spyware check, fixed my registry, and guess what??????? No luck the problem is still there....no matter what i do these small pauses im getting will not fix. Also using the best media dvds (sony) and a liteon dvd player 16x, and i have kept the speed to 4x writing speed to be on the safe side

Can Anyone tell me what the problem is????? is there a word used to identify this problem????

SYSTEM SPEC

3.6ghz p4

sata 80gb

1gb ddr400

asrock 775lga board

windows xp

@Toon1Army,
You said you use Sony Media, are they DVD+R or DVD-R? Also, more importantly, are they Made in Japan or Taiwan? Also, you said your burning at 4x. IF you have the Sony DVD+R 8x Made in Japan Media, you may try to burn them at 8x. I don't know if your burner supports booktype setting, but if it does, booktype them to DVD-ROM. Also, this is a symptom too of a lot of compression. If we have more details we may be able to solve this issue. Personally, I switched to CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD running. Back up main movie only to keep the compression to a minimum. The closer you can get it to 100% quality, the better. Sine I swithced, my problems like yours went away.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Check that you have all aspi layers installed in Nero as well as any codec updates such as the latest DivX, etc. May also be due to conflicts between Nero and any other burning software you may have installed such as roxio.

I totally concur , Nero usually conflicts w/ Roxio

And if you d/l the free codec checker G-Spot (in aD software section) you'll be able to see if you're indeed missing anything ;-)

G-Spot : http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/gspot.cfm

And if you have whole Nero suite then you'll have Nero Info Tool .. this will tell what ASPI layers you have installed (will be red if not correct).
Dont forget to check drop down box for system ASPI .. cos Nero will show its own installed ASPI as okay.

Anything else .. let us know kidda !;-)

G-Spot will simply tell you if you have the correct codecs installed :-)

[You need to know if you do or don't have the correct codecs]
