I downloaded a movie......Underworld Evolution the TC release by maven..great quality..great movie. But now someone has released a new DVD version of it by a team called "BoB". Here's their description of hte movie.

This is the maVen release of Underworld Evolution that has been color corrected, audio remastered and placed in a DVD environment with Menus and Chapter Selection. BoB is BandofBuccaneers and is a new group on the torrent scene. Other works include Serenity, Chicken Little, Flightplan, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The video is 3-4 times better than the maVen release....can someone help me figure out what programs they have used to do this... i would like to start doing the same.....much better than anything i've ever made with AVI2DVD!!!!

Big deal - audio remastering does not imply any improvement in quality. And 'color corrected' (ugh - American spelling) could mean simply using PC standard instead of TV standard.
The inclusion of DVD menus & junk etc. are also unlikely to improve the quality of a film...
The best quality you can achieve is still Koepi's XviD, I use it with GordianKnot

and Azid, BeSweet, CDex and LAME.
If you want 1400MB rips (I do not) then you can use 5.1 AC3 directly.
Don't get all over-excited about 'claims' you read (they are selling you the sizzle, not the steak).

well if you have ever downloaded one of his re-releases that simply says color corrected and audio remastered and watched the difference between the source XviD and the changes he has made....yes he is somehow enhancing the movie 3-4 fold if you do'nt beleive me go download them for yourself and compare the 2. If not don't sit here and say "big deal" and pretty much make yourself out to be a know it all when obviously you don't have any idea what you are talking about. Just because you don't have or know of any means to make this achievable does not mean that it can't be done. It isn't perfect DVD quality but yes it is much better than the normal TC which is what he made the changes to and greatly improved it.
