I decided to get a few PSX classics to play on my Matrix Infinity slim PS2.

So I got them and put them onto CD-R fine using A120% at 8x (It won't write any lower) using the default settings Alcohol provided.

The weird thing is, when I put some games in the PS2 they get past the PS2 splash and never to the PS1 splash, but if I switch the PS2 off and on again the game then boots great and plays great with good loading times etc.

What is going on?!

P.S. I am currently using Datawrite Silver Printables

Something similar happened to me. If you have a mod chip installed in your PS2, then try the following:

Put your PSX game in the console
Turn off your PS2. Switch off the console, so the red light is turned off.
Turn on the console, so the red light is turned on.

ATTENTION>

Now, press the reset button (the one with the red light), PRESS IT AND HOLD IT until the blue light in the eject button appears. THEN RELEASE THE RESET BUTTON.

You should now play with the PSX oldies but goldies. Also works with movie DVDs.

Hard to do since I have the slimline edition :D

I managed to find my PSX and that was having some problems too. (Jerky FMV etc)

Think these Datawrite must be bad for the PlayStation. Back to Riteks I suppose

8x is a little fast for PSX backups. Try burning at 4x. I have 100 or so PSX backups. I burned most of them with Alcohol 120% at 4x. Good CD Media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim is helpful as well. I have a Matrix Infinity in my v.4 PS2 and have never had any issues with CD-R backups.
