Using a linksys wireless router and comcast cable internet. Thou it dosent matter.

When forwarding ports and opening them in a firewall does it matter which ports you use? I am currently using bitcomet and now have forwarded 44056. But people reccomed 12241 or sumthin as default. Also other clients use 6881-6889. Dose it matter which one I use. Are differnt ports used for different things? Im pretty sure just this one is right. Comments please?

In fact ur router does matter, quite a bit. U need to forward ports in ur router for maximum speeds. for router configuration help, go here:

And yes using the right port # makes a difference also. For ur client/firewall(s) u should use a port range between 50000-60000.

To make sure ur ports are correctly opened/forwarded take an online NAT test, here:

~*~ https://grc.com/x/portprobe=

....after = put in port # ur testing, leave client on, run the test and hope it comes back as "open!". Then ur really open.

As for bitcomet, its a great client for public sites but some private sites still have issues w/ it. Wich are u downloading from, private or public?. If ur feeling up to it, give ”Torrent a try. Best client out there, imo. Here's the link:

Hope this helps ;-D

No sig for u!.
