Singstar PAL work with karaoke rev mics?

I dled the singstar games which are PAL for my ntsc.
I read that you need to have the mics that the game comes with for it to work.
Then elsewhere I read itll work with the karaoke revolution mics, which I have. Said simply turn it on without a mic plugged in, itll ask for one, stick in the karaoke rev mic, and itll continue.
I stick it in and just sits there saying plug in your mic.
Anyone have any idea how to get this to work?
My wifes on a karaoke binge and I have these singstars here that are worthless for the time being.
Shes already biddin on uk ebay for em and the shipping will kill me.
