Backup file size question.

So I've obtained a backup of Mario Kart DS which 18mb.

I've checked a table that stated it was 256mb.

I've seen this for other backups as well. So I'm assuming my 18mb backup is worthless?

The backup size is measured in MegaBit. Not Byte.
