NO!!!... this question gets asked a lot every week.. and we've tried to make it simpler for you newbs to get this info by having the "stickies" at the top of the forum(the ones in bold that never move).

Please read through some of those threads, they have lots of useful information that should stop these kinds of posts.. and if the answer to any of your questions aren't in there then use the search function please.. it says this in the forum rules, something like "please use the search function before posting a question as the chances are it's already been asked and ansered already"

No being an ass here... but you can imagine how annoying it is to have these sorts of questions asked all the time when the info is there already if people would just search for it or even look through a few posts...

No worries.. I'm sorry if I sounded a bit harsh.

You need to have an original swap magic disc and a case mod of some sort to be able to play backups... if not we'd all be doing that too.

Hope you found what you were looking for :)

No worries... hey we're all new to this at some point.. i'm really sorry for sounding harsh with you before :)

Case mod and swap magic or a modchip fitted to your ps2 is the way most people go.. there are a few other options, but they come with their own set of problems too...

good lcuk with what you decide to do

in your opinion is there really an advantage to having your ps2 chipped rather than just using swapmagic and a case mod? i mean i could understand the advantage with an xbox or something but i can't see the advantage with a ps2. thanks.

There's several advantages to having a modchip over Swap Magic. Click the Modchip FAQ in my sig for more info.

Yeah, there are several reasons why a modchip is better over swap magic.. like being able to boot dual layer backups, etc.. but I get along fine with swap magic as I only want to play backup discs.. it's just occassionally annoying if they release something on dual layer disc that is really difficult to shrink to DVD-5 (single layer).. then I would prefer to have a modchip!!
