On Fight Night Round 3 you did it exactly right. I backed mine up after a rebuild and it works without a problem. I also thought it was kind of crazy that it was shrunk by that much....But hey, if it works that's all that matters. One more thing...I also used Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD+R discs for the game. I really recommend using good media. Hope this helps ya.

I backed that game up the day it came out and rebuilt it. I doesnt even matter if you rebuild it or not most of the game is dummy files anyway 2 take up unneeded space burn with dummies or without that is the question.

Like The Matrix Path Of Neo you can just burn it or rebuild it doesn't matter anyway.

Oh after you rebuilt it did you repatch it with WinDip I truely hope so

Well, after further reading you guys are right. I didn't have to rebuild Fight Night. I thought the TOC for Swap Magic was smaller. My bad.

Wilson, Alkohol has a sticky on the top of this page that works great. It's the way I rebuild and I've never had a problem. You probably don't have to rebuild it but.....I really don't think it will hurt anything. I rebuilt it and it works great. Hopefully this will help you out.

Raven, pardon my Newbie question here....What is WinDip? Any why would I need to patch the game? I thought you only really had to do that if you were using the game for online play. I would love to find out more.

there are certain games that need patchin to work with swap magic, fifa street 1 and nfl street are just 2 of the games ive had to patch, its very rare that u need to patch a game, windip is a program that enables you to embed a dnas code into your backedup iso, which then allows online play, hope this helps a bit

What did you patch on Fifa Street 1? I've heard of erasing dummy files and even DNAS for online play. What else would you patch?

The patch in the case of fifa street is a fix to work with swap magic as rebuilding etc doesn't work for that game.

Which kind of patching? online game patch? screen mode patch?.. they can be found in this forum by looking in the stickies or a bit of searching for the most part.

does it take a bit to load in betweem spots for anybody else?

when I play, like when the round is over and it goes into heal, then the girl with the sign, then the opponent talks, then you fight again. For me in between those spots it takes upto a whole 2 minutes to load...

I use (¯`·._.·[Verbatim]·._.·´¯)
Verbatim 8x 4.7gb DVD-R ======(P/N:94971)=======

I use (¯`·._.·[Taiyo Yuden]·._.·´¯)

That can be a sign you burned the game too slow. Try burning a little faster.

Yeah, I agree with Tokijin, could be the burning speed... but what discs are you using too?

i also got the file down to 2.2 gigs , however on the file that was supposed to be fight.001 it was fight and it was in WinRAR form and dos wouldn't recognize that file and bypassed it, i don't understand why the file is compressed or tried to be compressed. has anyone experienced this problem?

That's the size of this game after being rebuilt. It's not a rar file, it's an iso. The reason that the WinRAR icon appears behind the file, is because you have your default file association for iso files associated with WinRAR. I.E. if you have Windows Media Player as your default player for MP3's, MP3 files will have the Windows Media Player icon behind then. I personally don't care for the CD/DVD Gen rebuild method. Too many steps, too much margin for error. Try rebuilding the game with Expert or Nero/IsoBuster.

10. Q. What does rebuilding an iso mean?
A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. The main purpose of rebuilding is to shrink the game's Table of Contents (TOC-the size of the game) in order to boot it with Swap Magic. The TOC for the Swap Magic DVD is around 4.37GB's. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip. Another purpose of rebuilding is to make games run smoother. Usually the size of the game after rebuilding is smaller, but not always. Some games have dummy files used to beef up the TOC and help them run more smoothly. A good way to lower the game's TOC is to overwrite a large dummy file. If you are having trouble getting a backup to boot, and you're sure the media isn't the problem, try rebuilding the game.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

'DNAS280.IMG;1' is PATCHED, it matches patch (280A).
'DNAS300.IMG;1' is being scanned... PATCHED, unverified (Offset 0x0002AC1C).
'IOPRP300.IMG;1' is being scanned... No match found.

After burning this game it loaded so slow, so I rebuilt the game and tried again and it was better but still way to slow so then I tried again this time burning at 2.4x and not 4x like the two times before and sure as sh^t it loaded even slower then the author two so I tried to burn it at 8x and it works great loads fast and plays perfect. My advice to any one who may have trouble with load times is to burn it at 8x, I also always use verbatim disc and this is the first game I ever had trouble with load times. I have never burned a game at 8x before always 4x or 2.4x,But I have to say it works great is there any one who burns at 8x all the time and would you recommend it.

Some people do. It's mainly constant disc access games like Need for Speed most wanted or GTA San Andreas that need to burned a little faster. If you use quality media like Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden, you can probably get away with it. Everybody's burner is different. If your burner/PS2 can handle burning at max speed on 8x discs, then go for it. You will only get away with this on quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, not crap media like CMC Mag.
