Just got my xbox setup and playing call of duty 2 ... went into multiplayer and using optical audio connection everything sounds great excetp that on a couple of maps when u fire one of the mounted machine guns the sounds is very muted or muffled ... all others sounds are perfect .. any ideas or anybody else having same problem ?
have not used the xbox live yet so dont know if im missing some update or something ..

why even bother play cod2 on live?? i friggin hate it. its so horrible. back to yur question, it could just be lagging. are you using a home theater?

im not playing it on live just 4 person split screen ... and why is so bad on live ? have yet to setup my live account anyway

hmm, about your audio question call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX
and do not wate your time with cod2 live.
1.if you've played halo2 on live you'll know how good it is. you can create your own parties, invite friends, change game options, yada yada yada.cod2 online is nothing like this. you cannot make a game except with a glitch which requires 2 people.
2.to play a game you have to "join" a match, which takes a painstakingly long time.(my longest was 15 mins.)
3.IT LAGSSSSSSSSSS like the devil
4.you have no game options.

Is it like this with every game or just cod2? Also is your sound cable all the way plugged in? this could mute the sound sometimes

i had a similar problem on split-screen mode with cod2. it was my digital optical cable getting loose from the av cable connector. also make sure your receiver is set on dolby digital.
