I don't know if any of you are familiar with ReplayTV and DV archive. Whenever I transfer shows from my RTV to PC, they are saved as MPGs. The problem I am having is that when I convert AVIs to MPGs, I may end up with 1 gig mpg file(hypothetically) and when I try to burn it using DVD archive, it turns into 4 or 5 gigs(or something close to that). I do not have this problem with RTV show mpgs. If they are 1 gigs, then they are a little bit over that---1.2 or 1.3 gigs....so I can put almost 3 times as much as 'avi to mpg' file of same size without changing anything in DVD archive. Does anyone know why that is? I can surely adjust the bitrate to fit more, but it takes forever to burn it and it doesn't take as nearly as long with RTV MPGs. I hope all this makes sense. I have already tried encoding my AVIs with the same settings, but maybe I am missing something somewhere. Thanks a lot in advance.
