dl slow for no apparent reason-please help me.

i don't know why my dl don't exceed 5kb/s

i am using a cable modem (1 mb) without any firewall. i don't think i need to port forward since i don't have a router.

i have used various clients (uTorrent, Azurues, BitLord) but to no avail.

the only thing i am not sure about is static or dynamic IP. i know i need static IP but how do i determine if i have it or not.

btw, i was dl from bitsoup which had a good seed/leacher ratio, 31 seeds/17 peers.

the max i got was 10 kb.

pl. i really need help.

Try checking your system for Viruses and malware using an up-to-date virus scanner and Ad-Aware. Some misc program might be using your internet connection...

i don't have any virus or spyware. just ran a few scans. everything is clean.

further more when i download from ordinary sites i get speeds between 100-200 kb/s, even on limewire with just 4 or 5 sources i get high speeds like 25-50 kb/s.

it is just these torrents doing my head in.

come on guys, please help me.

i have tried
bitsoup
torentbox
torrentspy
torrent reactor

some others i can't remember.

but the result was same 5kb max. however, with bitsoup i got slightly better speed of 10kb

hey guys, i have to dl a file which is 3.36 gig.

i am dl it from bitsoup. it has 25 seeds and 24 peers. the max speed i am getting is 10 kb. it lingers around 6-7kb.

puleese help me.

is there no way to get higher speeeds?????
