have this m8 at work
who like me usually builds his own PC system
and knows his way around things

this time however he has gone for a Dell
because as he put it the price was right
for the setup he got.

anyway he has this DVD burner he got from P.C. world
called Emperex 16x dual layer (yeh I've never herd of it either)
which in his old machine he could burn at 16x
but when he put it in the new dell
it takes over an hour to burn a DVD ( 1x or what)
both on the fly and off a HDD image
the buffer keeps disappearing
and asked me if i had any idea's
so i said yeh ill post it on a forum or 2 see if anybody out there has any idea
so here i am

INFO:DELL PC

Dell P4 3.0GHZ with Hyper Threading
512 DDR2 dual ram
128 Radeon HyperMem
Emperex 16x dual layer DVD Burner
some DVD reader built in (yeh he didn't say)
80gig sata HDD
windows xp home (came on machine)
and he is burning using Nero 6.6

any suggestions would be appreciated cheers

the drive is mostlikly in PIO mode open up device manager and delete the seconday ide controller reboot the computer and windows will reinstall the controller and turn on DMA this most likly fix the problem
