I'm interested in getting a new 5th Generation Video iPod.

WHat I want my mp3 player to do:
Store at least 20 GB of music.
Store and play approx. 8 to 10 full length (2 hour) movies.

Couple questions:

1) After I convert a DVD to mp4 to import into the Ipod, how big is the file size of the movie? (ie. 500KB, 600MB, 2GB, etc)

2) Considering I want to get 20GB of music plus 8 to 10 movies stored, which ipod should i get? (30GB or 60GB edition?)

3) Is there a way I can connect my ipod so I can display movies (video files) within the ipod onto a TV. (Like, watch a movie stored on ipod on a TV)

4) If I can do #3, then will the displayed picture quality be up to 480i standards, or much worse?

5) I heard a rumor that a new enhanced version iPod will be coming out in the future (later in 2006), one that might have wireless headphonne device and better (bigger) screen size/resolution.
Any word on that so I could hold off and buy that?

Please elaborate on these questions.
Thanks very much for any help I get.

you can easily fit that into the 30GB ipod video. each of my movies average about 750MB. and yes, you can connect the ipod to a tv using an av cable. here is one on the apple website: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?produ...
I wouldnt get your hopes up about a 6g ipod just yet because it is only rumoured that one is coming soon. I would purchase the 30GB video now if I were you.

When they reliced the 5G ipod, didnt they say something around "one last finnal upgrade" ?

And you can kind of quality the new cell phones with itunes as the 6G.Probally in less then 2 years will be a mechnic the size of a razor with cell phone and all the fetures of an ipod 5G. mabey even sooner =D.

The future scars the living hell out of me ><

And if you are like me (dump everything you can possibly think of on your ipod) you sould get an 60GB, if you are like my brother who is carefull of what he puts on you sould get an 30GB. 30GB are also cheaper ^^, but with an 100$ upgrade you can double your ipod. The balance is based on the person.

<1> Depends on the length of the movie and the settings you apply. To give you a rough estimate, you could probably fit your average DVD movie onto your iPod inside 1gb.

<2> You should stick with the 30gb, but if you are likely to add to your media collection sometime in the near future, I reccommend the 60gb model.

<3> Yes, you can do this with an AV cable. You can get an AV cable from any good electronics retailer. Here are a few links..

Apple Manufactured

AV Cable - http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/detail~dpno~186915.asp
Apple iPod AV Connection Kit
- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E5XHGK/104-7822273-3454345?v...

Alternative Brand

Belkin - http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=250226

(you can use any AV cable - it doesn't necessarily need to be an 'iPod AV cable')

<4> That depends mostly on the size of your Television. Put it this way, though, the max pixellage of iPod .mp4 video is 320x240, which, on a >28" LCD television, will be fairly distorted..

<5> Nothing has been spoken of by Apple, let alone confirmed. Everything you hear and see about the 6g is rumours & speculation - which isn't enough to hold off purchasing a 5g, which at less than 6 months old, can still be considered 'new' ;)
