Now that is is March, I think that we can now look back and grade the xmas releases. I personally was not impressed and I bought and asked for no games for xmas especially when I was told by magazines and G4TV that the best game would be King Kong. Am I wrong, was there good games or did Sony drop the ball and release no good games here as they try to lead up to the release of the PS3?

No, I don't think that's their intention at all, maybe they've just been sucky games, there are a lot of good releases due in 2006 though.

So I looked through that link and I found these games that look to be good:
Kingdom Hearts II (still working on KH 1, and it is fun)
Tomb Raider Legend (first time the original creater has worked on a second Tomb Raider game)
Starcraft Ghost
Final Fantasy XII

Overrated games to definately rent not buy:
Mortal Kombat Armagedon
Dirge of Cerberus Final Fantasy VII (this might be good)
Hitman Bloody Money
Dynasty Warriors 5 (enough said there, they all are the same except for graphics)
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (just another Ghost Recon game)
Onimusha Dawn of Dreams (you will probably disagree with me on this cuz lots of people say this is a good series but i wasn't impressed)
Shadow Hearts From the New World (same as above)
And a addon of Metal Gear Solid 3

I got to tell ya i wasn't impressed with recent games and they just seem to be making more games that would be a rent them for the weekend thing. Four games this year maybe, cuz I don't know if I will get the Tomb Raider one until i see some reviews. But this is just my opinion.

and as far as recent games. Brothers In Arms Earned In Blood, Medal Of Honor European Assult, Gun, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Black, NFS Most Wanted, Cold Winter, Indigo Prophacy, Resident Evil 4, The Suffering Ties That Bind, Stolen, GT4.
And that is just to name a few of the recent good games.
Your taste must just be very limited as to what type of game you consider "good"
and as far as those releases go i am looking forward to
Metal Gear Solid, Driver, Tourist Trophy, Moto GP4, Hitman, Bully, Test Drive, & Splinter Cell
Which should all be worth checking out.

What i would like to see more than anything else is a new GTA game where they go back to their roots, return to Liberty City with Tommy Versetti as the staring role for either Xbox or PS2. A console version of Liberty City Stores will just not do for me.

A couple of things about your post. First, I think the whole WWII games have really outplayed themselves along with the first person shooters such as Black, I also believe your WWII games are also first person. I never could get into them for consoles, liked them more on PC. I put the Splinter Cell series in the overplayed category with the Splinter Cells, the Navy Seals game just really over did the market (even thoguh Starcraft kinda falls into this at least it has trown a wrinkle into it.

Also I didn't consider Resident Evil or Gran Turismo as xmas releases though they are good games. Cold Winter and Stolen I have never heard of and Indigo Proficy and the Suffering looked good but I don't trust tv commercials as good info on games.

I do agree a new GTA would be fun but it would be hard to bring something new to the game. I think it would be like San Andreas in gameplay but better grafics of and old GTA game.

Tourist Trophy I didn't even think of. A motorcycle game made by Polyphony will be amazing. Just as long as they bring in the fun factor that they mastered in GT3. I think GT4 made it more for hardcore gamers and you had to put it in a lot more time to master your driving techniques. but now I'm rambling so I'm out.

from what i have been told the Tourist Trophy game is awesome.
I was going to get the Moto Gp4 and a few people, who actually ride, told me it was the most realistic one, a lot like GT4 where you really have to learn how to drive to play well.

I just love the fps games myself, just preference i guess, not trying to knock anyone's taste here.
Cold winter is another fps so i am not sure you would like that either. You run around various cities and places doing missions like most others. But of the fps games that not many people had that, Kill.Switch, and Psi-Ops were my favorites

the suffering is much like the first one if you had that, very dark fps game that gives some people the creeps.
Stolen is a mission based game where you use stealth and complete missions. Breaking into various places, picking locks, hacking computers and so on. They are a lot of puzzle type things somewhat like the Prince Of Pursia series is, although not quite that good.

Indigo Prophacy is a really unique game. If you have a chip i would get an uncut PAL version Farenheit. They changed the name here in the US due to the movie Farenheit 911. But it is a rythem style gameplay with a good story to it. Most of the things you need to do with be a rythem based sort of thing with buttons and the joysticks where you have to hit things in the same rythem as what it is showing you on the screen. Like the dancing part of GTA San Andreas only a lot more invoved.

and just so you know i did not intend what i said to be any sort of put down or flame. I was just suprised that out of 5 pages of new games coming out that you really did not find many to your liking.
Different tastes, different games. Hope my little reviews helped you on the one's that you mentioned. I have just about evrything i want so if you saw any and would like to know haow they are let me know and i may be able to give you a reveiw of it before you rent or buy it ;)

yeah i have that one too. I liked Kill.Switch better though.
And Psi-Ops too.
Nothing like having mental powers :)
you can shoot them or just use your mental powers to pick them up, fling them against the wall, then walk over and plug them while they are down :)

Don't worry steimy I didn't take it as an insult or anything but the Psi-Ops game sounds good. The thing against FPS is that I can't ever seam to get locked onto my target using the joysticks before they waste my @$$, which is why I prefer playing them on PC. Also, I think 50 bucks for a game is a lot of money and so I try to be as picky as possible cuz whenever I go for a game when I let my standards slack a little bit I get burned :(

P.S. My status changed to Junior member after I posted this, does that mean I met a certain limit or is it because you guys posted on a thread I started or did I just reach a time limit where I got bumped up?

Sounds like a good game, steimy, have to find it and give it a go :P

And your status went up because you posted the sufficient amount of posts
to increase your status. In my opinion, status should go up through the quality of posts.. but in the end 'tis up to dRD.
