anyone knows if it's possible to watch avi, mpeg, type of movies on xbox 360 without modification.

if i already have divx (avi), can i burn onto the blank cd/dvd and play it on xbox 360?

is there any easy way of playing divx movie on xbox 360? cause the link above doesn't make any sense for me. thanks!!

Here's my suggestion:

1. Convert/Burn your DivX AVI's to DVD. Here's a guide:

2. Play the DVD's on your 360.

I've got about 6 gig of videos I have downloaded from Mike's Apartment, The MILF Hunter, and Big Naturals...I am gonna burn some of them to disc and see if I can watch via 360 on the big screen...

Should make for a really fun 10 minutes tonight...

If you have windows media center there is transconde 360 that will allow you to stream any type of video to your 360 from your computer.It works great.the website is here. http://www.runtime360.com/

will xbox 360 recognize any external device via usb (external usb harddrive). I have bunch of movies in different format (avi, mpeg, ram, etc) on my 300GB seagate external harddrive... has anybody tryed that?

Yes, xbox 360 recognizes many external devices (like external hdd's), but unfortunately you can only view photos and stream music from them :( It would've been a huge bonus to microsoft if they had made 360 to support videos from external devices. But it's kind of weird that they didn't. Maybe in the future updates, but I highly doubt it.
