I have a Ps2 with flip top and swap magic 3.6.
Things have been fine for a while but now my swap magic dvd disk won't load. It gets past the point where PLAYSTATION 2 flashes on the screen but won't get to the loading screen.
I have cleaned the laser and tried adjusting the white wheel but does not get any better. All originals play fine.
I tried to use the swap magic CD to load DVD's but I am also having issues with that.
I have listed the steps below please let me know what I am doing
wrong?
1. insert swap magic cd wait till screen loads.
2. hit eject screen says insert lager TOC
3. Put in GTA original. screen says refreshing TOC.
4. wait for prompt to put in backup. Open fliptop put in backup close lid hit enter.
The screen flash's red like usual but then flashes a screen that shows a picture of my memory card on it and then says that it is not a vaild ps2 game.
Any ideas?

your flip top must not be on right, if it says something with TOC in it, than its not on right. make sure it is covering the censors right if its a slim, i dont know about the big ps2
Peen!

I double checked and the Flip top is installed correctly. It worked for a while and recently stoped. It woks with Game shark but that doesn't load all games.
I have another ps2 but the laser s shot on that one maybe I will buy a laser replacment and give that a shot.

"2. hit eject screen says insert lager TOC"
You are NOT supposed to hit eject at all. When the SwapMagic is done loading and has stopped spinning, simply take it out and replace with game disc. Do not eject tray at all. That's why you get the "Insert bigger TOC disc" message.

Yep ppills gave you the right info.
... the whole point of having the fliptop is so that you use it to swap the discs, not use the eject button... it is an aftermarket fliptop you have? not the one that comes on the slimline ps2? .. and you're supposed to use the cd for cd games and dvd for dvd games.

umm If you read his post correctly he was trying to Load a DVD Game using the SwapMagic CD... So he was trying to load a larger DVD TOC by using GTA
Never tried it myself so I don't know if it would work doing it that way...

Yep, just re-read it... see what he means now. My fault, sorry... I read it wrong, I assumeed you were having trouble with your backups as this is what this forum is for.. this question really should have gone in a different forum.
Is it a slimline or fatps2 that you're using? and what mod?
I think that all you can do really is contact the place where you got your swap magic discs and ask them for a replacement... how long have you had the discs? and are they scratched much? You mentioned cleaning the laser, but have you cleaned the disc? Try cleaning the disc and checking for scratches.. after cleaning if it still doesn't work, contact the place and ask for a replacement, you could have got a bum disc I guess.

LiquidusX I will try special boot and let you know if that works.
TMfloria is correct I am trying to use the CD version of swap magic to load a DVD game because the DVD swap magic disk no longer loads.
I am trying to Similate what game Gameshark does. You can put a cd in, swap it with a DVD game that has a larger TOC and then put in your DVD backup. I read a sticky that said you could do the same with the cd version of swap magic, just wasn't sure I was missing a step.
I willI try special boot option of swap magic and let you know.

It is a FATPS2. I have had the disks for a while the DVD disk is pretty scratch but I did try to clean it with no luck. That is why I tried the CD disk which loads fine.
I have 2 mods.
1. fliptop
2. nosoldermod chip
I used to use nosolder with gameshark but that had trouble with certain games so I bought swap magic it came with the fliptop.
I will try the DVD swap magic disk in a friends non modded PS2 to see if it loads.
Want to thank everyone for all the responces. I will post a status later today.

I tried special boot option of swap magic and that did not work just black screen. I was able to get an older game to load using gameshark but that doesn't work for the newer games. I will see if the Swap magic disk loads on a different PS2. maybe it it the laser.
