I am currently using Bitcomet 061 and I really like it. its a good client although it is having trouble updating my ratio on Demonoid.com I heard Azureus is a really good client. Is there any other really good ones out there i should consider or should I just keep using Bitcomet and forget about Demonoid and use another website. I really dont want to change clients its a pain in the butt to configure router, firewall, etc again.

@ treezy

azureus and ”Torrent are great *cough utorrent cough* but if u want ur stats to update through demonoid w/ bitcomet:

~ stop the torrent once finished downloading.
~ go to the properties of that particular torrent.
~ There will be two scroll bars next to TASK:.
~ change the first to seed and the second to start now.
~ Then click the default button and set as default.
~ re-start the torrent, and seed away!

NOTE it takes some time for the site to notice, but it will. U should also update to bitcomet .62 or beta ;-D

No sig for u!.

I like utorrent the best, just because it is small and works quite well.

For about the 70 jillionth time, you shouldn't recommend bitcomet to anyone, same/same bitlord.

BC has been banned by most private trackers because it's a leaking leech client. I won't elaborate right here, but, use it at your own risk.

Yeah Bitlord caused me some hassles. Azereus is the way to go my friend. Although this Utorrent program seems to be getting rave reviews from my mates...

I was using BitComet until my brother wanted to start downloading torrents, then I had to switch to uTorrent, and he uses BitComet. But, I'm with you, I'd go back to BitComet in a second. uTorrent is just a tiny fraction slower than BitComet, and I already know how to use BitComet.

I can't think of any reason why you couldn't both use the same client? You forward whatever ports you want forwarded...2 installs means 2 sets of forwarded ports.

And, I'll make it very clear why BC is "faster." BC basically cheats with your torrent, whatever it is. It spiders out, and begins using other peers as seeds whether or not they're seeds, and then connects you to as many 100% people across the network as possible to whore out your dl speed while minmizing your upload speed. Basically...

The tracker automatically allocates bandwidth so everyone gets an even share. However, let's say you're connected via DHT to, say, 3 main clusters of peers. One with the main torrent tracker.

It sees you as one person and allocates youd transfer as 1 person. However, BC has you connected multiple times to the swarm from the same IP, for each swarm. Now, instead of 1 person, you're 3, 3 swarms. Also, because you're basically stealing/spoofing the tracker, you're getting someone else's share of the bandwidth and your own. The tracker sees you as one leecher, but in actuality you're leeching multiple times that, because you're using other seeds leech slots, and/or leeching that is NOT being routed through the tracker.

In short, it's a cheating, leecher client. The reason it's banned by most private trackers is because it improperly reports your ratio, and because it doesn't fairly share bandwidth. On top of that, it's VERY insecure, because it shares your login hash w/ anyone who connects to you (and thus you steal theirs...someone w/ BC logs into a private tracker and grabs a torrent and starts to DL, you can connect to them w/ the torrent and make it work, even though you're not registered to the tracker.), therefore you can seriously bork your ratio and/or compromize your account.

Bitlord uses the Bitcomet engine, but gives it adware upon install. It's...well, crap.

The only clients that anyone should consider using are:
the original client, ABC, Azureus, utorrent, or BitTornado.

I personally prefer Azureus, but that's just me.

And, please don't say that any program is "faster" than any other. BC can theoretically be "faster", but I doubt that your leeched out cheating BC will beat my properly set up Azureus. It's all about setup, because they all use the same protocol, and it's the tracker that determines your downstream (assuming you're configured properly.), not your client. (unless you override the speed for some reason.)

Yeah, I heard about BitComet stepping all over other clients on their way to downloading. Still, lots of people use BitComet, and even though I got scared when I first heard about the private trackers banning it, I haven't experienced this whatsoever, with any sites I'm registered with.

In my case, BitComet was the only client I could get to work. I tried 4 or 5 in total. And, yes, I realize that with some healthy tinkering it's possible I could have gotten some of those others to work. uTorrent clashed with an antivirus program, then when I removed the antivirus program on my own terms, I knew I could use uTorrent. Basically, I used BitComet because it functioned properly, not because I had aspirations to maximize my leeching, or cheat somehow.

BitComet can be used by both me and my brother, but there's a couple inconveniences you have to endure, like having to share the same download folder, and changing the port number if we're both running it simultaneously. I use uTorrent, he uses BitComet. That should be a positive for you, then because I use torrents WAY more than he does.

I don't think BitComet's cheating my ratio, because when I finish seeding a task 1:1, it reflects perfectly on my upload/download info on the tracker's site.

All in all, I think if BitComet was such a malicious thing, that more trackers would blackball its BitComet users, or we would hear more about it. Basically, if more of the BitComet opinions I heard were bad ones, I'd probably stop using it.
