Ok , heres my issue. I bought a game from america , Katamari Damacy , but as it turned out it was too scratched to boot or be redone with my comp. My solution , I downloaded it so I could try it* thats only semi/illegal right?) . It`s an ISO file, with a dummy. Ive now used 8 different burning programs , and rebuild the game a number of times. I think I have 20 coasters , but every once in a great while I manage to boot a couple of them.
I also have a backupped SAN ANDREAS , and that works 100% ( not my backup ) , but these Katamri Backups work hardly 5%.
I have a good chip ( and a slide tool as well , and HDD ) and im burning on class 1 Verbatim DVD-R `s on low speeds , 0.7-6.2.
When backing up ps1 games , or ps2 cd games , I have a 99% success rate , but these ps2 DVD`s just arent working for me.
ANy idea what could be wrong? I`ll gladly specify more if necessary. Thnx
you say you have a good chip, if you do you would not need a slide tool at all. You would also not need to rebuild the game or remove the dummy file.
Have you tried just burning the ISO and not rebuilding it?
What chip do you have?
and i assume when you are rebuilding it you are using ISO Buster to get the correct file order. Doing it with ISO Buster and Nero is the easiest way.
It should be perfectly legal to download it if you own the game since you are allowed to make i leagl back up.
Rebuilding an ISO
If you have ISO Buster and Nero: by MinnWild at modchipzone
Step 1.
Decrypt the ps2 game to your hard drive using dvd decryptor.
Step 2.
Open up Isobuster and load in the image file.
Step 3.
Hold shift and highlight all the game files and put them in a folder.
Step 4.
Open up Nero burning rom and create a new UDF/ISO dvd (It's the last one in the list). Drop all the game files into Nero in the same order as it is listed in Isobuster. Just keep Isobuster open as a reference when you do this. Nero will change the order of the files graphically, however they burn in the order that you dropped them in.
Step 5.
Name the image and burn it at 4x.
Step 6.
Presto, you've rebuilt and burned a PS2 game. Play it.
Mars II chip. I have the slide tool on another ps2 , which I use for copying backed up games to the HDD, since the chip doesnt always reset after booting ( or ever really). The file order is correct , Im certain.
I might come of as more of a noob than I really am here , but I actually have decent knowledge of burning things. But I noticed a problem , Nero doesnt change bookmark to dvd-rom. SO maybe im forcing my chip to accept a pure Data DVD? That might explain the insanely low sucess rate in booting , but it does work sometimes. Ok I`ll try burning udf\iso in burning rom instead.
Mode 2\xa , and what is the rest there? No multisession , finalize disc. WHat am I missing now?
Im using verbatim 16X discs. But burning at 6x , since that is the lowest any program will let me...
Yeah there are clones of the Mars II chip , but I have the real thing. 100% success rate on all working games , ps1 backup and import. PS2 cd backup and import. PS2 dvd import and DVD+R . Im pretty sure it takes -R too , but I just havent tried it yet with a decent disc.
Also if my burning is correct , I shou8lc be able to start the game on my other ps2 with the slide.
ANy tips as to how I can chnage the Nero bookmark?
You need to burn the disc as an image.. "burn image to disc" option in Nero. If using Nero express(which I find easiest) load the source file, set burning speed, finalyse disc etc.. and then next to where it says what recorder to use it has options, go into there and you should see another option at the bottom that says options again... in there it says about booktyping.. I have mine set to automatic, which basically means that if I use a disc that is capable of booktyping, eg DVD+R then it will automatically do it.
I cant find them options. When I click the option next to the writer I chose , it just gives me info abou the disc. Theres nothing more to do there....
No , of that im not sure. I know where to look , but it just doesnt come up. However...when I use Alcohol , I can choose the mode , but only when burning cds , when I try to burn DVDs , theres nothing i can do. Ok , how to change it in DVD Decrypter then
