I note that as of today (7th March 2006)
http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-demo.php
still says
"Download Page - Nero 7 Premium Trial Version
An Updated Trial Version will be available soon, please check back."
However checkout
ftp://ftp.nero.com/software/nero7/
and you will see:
ftp://ftp.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.8.2_eng_no_yt.exe
(for example)
I would like to know if anyone has found any problems in this
Nero version (i.e. 7.0.8.2)?
Thanks

Downloading now.....wow....the file is 417 MB, I think the other downloads (7.0.5.4, 7.0.1.4b, etc.) were only just over 100 MB.
edit: oops....not eng version, says "all" instead, I'm guessing multilanguage

update: Okay, seems to have installed fine. "Make DVD" option is back in this version (something that i couldn't see with 7.0.5.4), so that's good news. However, i've tried adding several avi's into it (avis that i've previously converted with 7.0.1.4b) and it takes A LOT longer to get them in there. It will load them eventually, but it acts like it's frozen for a minute or so before they appear. Other than that, I don't notice any problems...but i haven't done any projects yet.
i will post any problems that i have in the future

I'm switching back to 7.0.14b...again. I just tried to make a nerovision project with an animated menu with animated buttons (something that notoriously causes problems). At several points throughout the process (adding the avi's in, previewing menu animations, as well as the transcoding/burning process) it maxed out my CPU useage to 100%. It's very noticeable, the program appears to be "frozen." I've never had this problem with any previous version of Nero and my comp should have more than enough to handle Nero (1.5 gb ram, 3.0 ghz processor).
anybody else have problems with this version being ridiculously gluttonous?

I note in the release notes that it does not include a new version of NeroVision (still the Feb 6 version)! So, what is the point of installing this version?

The release notes are just behind. Vision is updated to 4.1.0.15.
I have no problems with 7.0.8.2 but then I had no problems with 7.0.5.4.
Also the build in update with Nero product setup works now. It may get a failed to connect for a few days because the servers will be real busy with folks downloading the new release.

WTF is going on with Ahead aka Nero these days? Looks like they're on crack or high with something stronger than e.
7.0.5.5 just came out yesterday and today 7.0.8.2?

I think 7055 was a mistake. It was a beta for a while.

I was the few one (curious) and yes I did tried 7.0.5.5 and everything worked for me. At this point no known issues yet, i.e. burning, transcoding, watching movie and converting/using Nero Vision, Nero Recode, Nero Express, Nero Burning Rom, Nero ShowTime, Nero CD-DVD Speed are all fine.
But seriously, Ahead aka Nero is starting to sounds like SlySoft aka AnyDVD now-a-days. I must say I hate to download it's big 108MB plus from their site everytime I'm going with the updates. Why can't Ahead or Nero just make a small updates to which file is needed only?

i tried 7.0.5.5 and it was the same for me as 7.0.4.6 slow (almost hung) when adding avis, creating chapters, doing anything with the menu. from one of the above posts i can tell this new one will be the sam. so i dont know if ill even bother.
you have to wonder if they do any testing on these releases at all. my computer is very common. amd64 3200, ati x800xt, 2 gigs of memory etc etc, very common stuff. yet when i reported the problem to Nero they responded (after a week) with "we were unable to reproduce these problems." BS.

What did you had your "priority" set under? I've always have mine set to "normal". See if this helps.
7.0.5.5 is fine with me. No bugs whatsoever. I might try 7.0.8.2 later on just to see what's all the fuss is all about.

prioriy is set to normal for me, nerovision is super bogged down as if i have the slowest comp in the world....i'm getting tired of these inconsistent results. Works for some, not all....doesn't make any sense.

Anyone recomend updating? I hate to go to a buggy version.
Does it still say Trial Version? Or have they fixed that bug?
I use Nero vision a lot, and I'd hate to crap that up.

I decided to take the plunge. Surprisingly, Nero Vision and Recode loaded without having to tweak a thing. I am already doing better then the last version. Backed up a DVD with no glitches, so I am off to a cautiously optimistic start.

@rcgamer & tetrakis
Honestly, I don't know and I have no comment why you guys are running super slow when using Nero Vision. I've set mine to "normal" and everything seems/always went smoothly for me. Yes, so far, 7.0.5.5 is going smoothly without any glitches. I might try 7.0.8.2 sometimes later on.

Yep, updated to Nero 7.0.8.2 completed. Everything is smooth and burning flawlessly as before. No buggy from me, at least not at this moment. So far, Nero Recode 2, Nero Express, Nero Burning Rom, Nero Vision, Nero ShowTime, Nero Toolkit/Nero CD-DVD Speed, Nero BackItUp, etc. is working as of now.

7.0.5.4 and 7.0.5.5 would not let me rename my DVD in Recode. 7.0.8.2 seems to have cleared this up for me. So far, no bugs that I've found in 7.0.8.2.

@alkohol
I remember reading in some post (I forget the context) that some guy had unexplainable problems with Nero in some respect and he posted his error log. Some experienced user like you read it and noticed the serial number was "flagged" by Nero as illegal and this may somehow cause Nero to cripple itself. Although I purchased my copy, i'm starting to wonder the problems i'm experiencing (and others are experiencing) are somehow tied to this. None of the updates since 7.0.1.4b has worked properly for me, yet so many others have no problems. What do you (or other smarties) think?

What a good forum this is.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
tetrakis, you said that you tried to make a nerovision project with an animated menu with animated buttons (something that notoriously causes problems) using this new version (7.0.8.2, vision 4.1.0.15) and your CPU maxed.
I'm happy to report that using 7.0.8.2, vision 4.1.0.15 I was able to take an existing project and burn a DVD with an animated menu and the DVD was OK. I note that the PREVIEW (in Vision) of the animated menu does NOT work. i.e. you cannot select the buttons - however I seem to remember that this was a problem with the preview in 7.0.4b as well. However the resultant dvd burned with 7.0.8.2 has working animated menus.
>anybody else have problems with this version being ridiculously gluttonous?
The only problems I have so far noticed is that with Nero 7.0.8.2, NeroROM "estimated time remaining" when burning my DVD-RW TSK 4x DVD seemed to start ok but later then showed 0 minues 0 seconds when it was only 50% complete. Oddly, later in the burn (at about 75%) the estimated time remaining worked again OK.
I have a P4 3.2Ghz. tetrakis perhaps your Antivirus software is causing your cpu to max out when working in conjunction with Nero vision? I tend to kill off other process like All-in-one secretmaker, AVG FREE etc....
