I am having problems backing up certian games such as Dragengard 2 and King Kong. Dvd Decyter and swap magic are what I am using have many other games and play them fine. These two will show the blue line at insert disk which makes it appear like it will work then plays only a black/gray screen. ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA?
thanks

Those two games probably have to be rebuilt, look around the other threads for further info on rebuilding as this has been awnsered multiple times.

What's the Media ID of the discs you're using? I burned my backups of those games to TYG02 (8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's) and they play fine.

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

well the media is DVD-R thats are dynex but they have worked for all my other games thats why I thought there was the problem. And the games should not need to be rebuilt as they are not larger than the disk space to the person above. I am going to try some new media thanks for the responses.

That's a 100% of the problem. Dynex is God awful media. Pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com
Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/buyerguides/buymedia.htm

106. Q. Where I can find top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media locally?
A. This is somewhat of a crap shoot. Big manufacturer's like Fuji, Sony, and Maxell have at one point past or present payed Taiyo Yuden to manufacture media for them. The big companies slap their name on the label even though the discs were manufactured in Japan by Taiyo Yuden. These discs will always be made in Japan. Authentic TY media isn't made anywhere else. Even if it says Made in Japan on the label, there is no gauruntee of getting authentic Taiyo Yuden media. You could still end up with Sony or Fuji media codes. Hence why I said this is a crap shoot. Places like Comp USA, Office Depot, Sam's Club, and Staples will carry Made In Japan branded discs. Again there is no way to know for sure from the package whether these are authentic Taiyo Yuden's. If you don't want to risk getting non TY discs, you can find 50 packs of Verbatim in the afore mentioned chain stores. One other alternative is the Made in Japan High Grade Maxell DVD+R's. They will say Made in Japan on the label and "High Grade" as well. These are excellent media. Remember when using DVD+R's, it's best you have a burner that supports booktyping/bitsetting, and a v.4 PS2 or later. Much thanks goes to kivory666 aka "docTY" for this information. He is indeed the Taiyo Yuden master. The best place to get authentic Taiyo Yuden media is from reputable online vendors like http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com or http://www.newegg.com

used verbatim and no go. I also burnt Metal Gear solid 3 to dynex and verbatum and the dynex loads slower and freezes so I do not understand the logic. The Dragangard 2 game still does not work with either type disk and I know how to use burning software it does NOT need rebuilt I am very good with comp I just cant find problem?

How do you know it doesn't need rebuilt? Make sure you're firmware is up to date and your burner is in DMA mode.

92. Q. What is firmware and why should I care?
A. Firmware as defined by AD:
Sort of a "operating system of the hardware", an embedded instruction set built-in or flashed into a hardware equipment, such as a router, CDR drive, DVD-ROM drive, washing machine, etc.
Newer Firmware can unlock new features that are sealed on certain DVD Burners like booktyping, or simply enhance your existing Burner by improving burn quality and media compatiblility. Keeping your Firmware up to date is essential to ensure quality burns and maximum functionality from your DVD Burner. When flashing your burner with new Firmware, be very careful. Make sure you shut down all programs running in the background, the DVD-ROM drive is empty, and you follow all the directions included in the Firmware download exactly. A bad flash can fry your DVD Burner. Proceed with caution. You can find all the Firmware you'll ever need here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

82. Q. When I'm burning with DVD Decrypter or Nero I get an I/O error or some other strange error, I'm not sure my burner is in DMA mode, and I'm confused about different media, what do I do?

well does anyone know if these games need rebuilt, King kong, Dragongard 2, Spartan. I hsve tried to back them up using DVD Decrypter with verbatium and dynex and I have made several previous back ups that have all worked. I am confused on reconstructing games as I have never had to do it before. I was under the impression that rebuilding the games was to fit them onto a normal DVD disk. DVD decryter says that there is no copywrite. I have not been working with my ps2 for sometime and all the old games I had backed up did not need to be rebuilt such as san andreas and a load of other pop games. Is this the issue? Does anyone know from backing up the listed games and not just theories.
Thanks for any and all help though

They aren't mod protected. I have successful backups of all of them burned to Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. I have a Matrix Infinity modchip. Did you check to see if there's firmware updates available? What about DMA mode? These are common fixes for burning issues. Ditch the Dynex, you should burn all your games to Verbatim from now on. If you ignore my suggestions, don't expect to get too far.

That's often an indication of cheap media, but I won't waste my breath any further in this thread.

I am using swap magic 2.0 is that the problem. And also I AM using verbatim disk and my burner isnt that old so I cant figure out the problem. I just attempted to burn winning 11 8 on verbatim and the thing wont load either. I wonder if it is my decrypter because it is no longer making SLUS files yet named files in ISO form. I was wondering if anyone had an older copy of DVD decrypter I had to search around for my new copy and even though it looks like the old one that used to be on my comp I was wondering if anyone had links I know that it is being sold now also so if you want you can email it to me. I would appreciate any help. I just backed up path of neo and DBZ Tenachi but nothing else seems to load when copied. Also is there anyway to get an upgraded swap magic without having to order it?
Thanks everyone

i would definately order a new swap magic, you really can't upgrade or anything that i'm aware of you jsut have to buy the new one. secondly i would look further into your media to see if it is even worth a damn. i have no reason to believe it could be decyrpter giving any problems, new or old version

I have done warrior within and it worked alright/ Drakengard 2 is still not working though. To the person who burnt it what type of file did dectyter make?
even though it is saying ISO on the ripping process when it is done in the C file it reads I00 or somthing and claims that there is no operating program for it. very odd

not trying to sound condesending but you don't burn the iso file, you burn the mds file. and what do you mean by unseen when you say its listed in the c:/ drive as dvdimageI00

what?? I dont know how your games work but the file is ISO. The MDS files are very small as in 5kb and from everything I have everknown they dont do anything when burnt to a disk. And when I say C;/ thats the main hard drive of a computer the C drive shesh? Also the question was what is an I00 file as opposed to ISO. If you dont know any of the answers to the questions then why raise your hand!
TO everyone else that has helped me out thank you very much I am doing alright burning as of lately.

alright then, does your decrypter separate the game into an mds file and a iso? mine does, and when i go to burn a game and if i select the iso file to burn, do you know what happens? my computer pops up a little window and says "you should have selected the mds file and not this one. i'll do it for you automatically this time, but don't do it again!" and when i say what do you mean by unseen, i mean what do you mean by unseen, not what is the c drive, do you really think i would ask a question so stupid? shesh! ha ha ha! don't be so anal, shesh! and if you haven't noticed no one on this thread has helped you, you still can't burn drakengard, and your just mad because you can't get your stuff to work and i can. and just so ya know, i'll raise my hand any time i feel the need, what are you some kind of teacher? you're ridiculous.

Um, yes I am a teacher actually so sorry for the dumb response. No you are correct I have yet to burn the Dragongard 2 game. I have had luck burning other games on my other dvd burner on another machine. I am still not to sure why the other(my other comp) is not burning them correctly it is backing up movies fine still. And just so you know I am not mad that I cannot get them to burn I mean alittle frustrated sure, but other games are burning fine. Let me be more clear about the current issue. When ripping the game the file is titled DVDIMAGE.ISO but then when it is stored on my comp it is DVDIMAGE.I00 Odd huh? The main problem is that the comp does not recognize this as a ISO file since it is not one technically. As for burning MDS files I cannot see how that is working for you I know that I must burn ISO I mean that is what you are ripping when you select ISO from decryter. Mine does not say I did somthing wrong it just allows me to burn the ISO image file which is what I assume is corrct since they(games) are running. Are you sure its actually MDS files your burning because on my comp they are listed as very small files not large enough for games.

i know what your problem is, you probably have 3 files an mds file a .I00 fle and a .I01 file. dvd decryptor will do this when you set it up as split files over 4 gb or summat like that,
so your .I00 file should be exactly 4gb.
im sorry to say that brandonb is correct.
load the mds file into dvd decryptor and it will join both image files together into one big iso and burn away,
see if that solves it
hope this helps
