need help connecting my s710 to pc

I'm having troubles with connections from my phone to pc. I installed all the software and drivers for my sony s710 phone in my pc. When I open up the "sony file manager" it states not connected. My phone is connected via USB....but the program doesnt seem to recognize the phone.....pls help
