Ok, I know a lot of threads appear on this topic, but I've followed a lot of advice and nothing works. I have an H.264 video file with ac3 audio, and I'm trying to run it through virtualdub to make it a divx video with mp3 audio. I use to have a program called AVIDecompressor that would decompress the video w/ the ac3 and turn it into mp3 for me, then I would run that video through VD.

I have the KLite codec pack installed. I can open up the video in VD, so I know my h.264 codecs are working. I have lame acm mp3 installed and the ac3 filter thing. When I choose audio compression, in the past I like to choose lame mp3 for my compression, but it doesn't allow me to do so, only the AC-3 ACM codec works. I choose a compression size for audio under this codec and I choose a divx compression for the video. When I click save as, I get the error:

"Error initializing compression stream-
The audio codec cannot compress the source audio to the desired format.

Check the sampling rate and number of channels in the source is compatible with the selected compressed audio format."

I apologize if this has been posted already, but I swear all the advice I have found is 'download the ac-3 codec', etc.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.
