Im having the damnest problem with a couple mpegs I d/l. They were encoded with divx, so I installed and registered the latest divx 6 bundle except for their player. According to g-spot the interleave is correct and all codecs are installed. But the playback is jerky. Its like watching a skipping dvd.... Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi Ozzy,
There's no telling if it was made properly.
You have certain adjustments you can make within your Decoder settings (buffering, post-processing etc.) I'm assuming your PC is running well.
But apart from that, everything could be fine on your end, and it plays badly - it just sucks, not your problem.
WHY it sucks, that's another issue - but nothing you can do about it now.
We need to find whoever made it, slap them into shape, get their quality right :^)
What we're here for...

LOL! Okay Ogs I was hoping there was a a way to run it through nandub. I was thinking it was framerate issue so I changed it from 30 fps to 29.97, but the audio was horridly out of sync. Oh well go find another copy I guess or run to the vid store and make my own.

Film is 24fps and NTSC DVDs are 30fps.
Films are 'converted' to 30fps by something called Telecine (it's almost like 'upsampling' the video frames per second - frames are actually duplicated and inserted in a regular repeating pattern).
There are, however, actual 30fps sources. These are generally from video (TV movie etc.) and are interlaced. They should be encoded at 30fps using a deinterlace filter.
Film, however, should be restored to its original 24fps splendour using IVTC (Inverse Telecine Correction) which removes the duplicated frames.
Since you say your AVI is 30fps, this raises suspicion that it may not be proper... you must determine (based on the content).
We say 30fps but it is technically 29.97fps - just a convenience, easier to type :^)
But yeah, if your AVI should be 24fps but is 30fps, it will be jerky (subtle, but there). Should be watchable though... but cannot be 'repaired'. Too late to IVTC AVI...
Things are strange in the world of NTSC ;^)
PAL almost simpler, LoL

You can't - you must run it on the original 30fps VOB (the DVD).
Once the AVI is made, it is too late :^(

Okay Ogs..thanks anyway. I was hoping there was a way to fix it. Oh well. Can nan dub read right off vobs and create a mpeg out of it? Or can you point me to a guide?

I use GordianKnot with DVDDecrypter and the XviD codec.
GKnot uses VDubMod for the actual encoding, and NanDub to mux audio/video and combine or split AVIs.
