Hi I'm building a pc and am wondering what card is better, the Radeon® X1300 Pro 256MB PCIE or the Radeon® X1300 Pro 512MB AGP. They are the same price. If you think I got started off on the wrong and would suggest a better card in the same price range($169 or lower) I would appreciate your input.

Thanx

those 2 cards use different slots so unless you don't have a motherboard that has both pci/e & agp slot than you need a new motherboard for the pci/e card.

as ddp siad u need to decide what motherboard u are gtting a pci-e slot or an agp slot one before u make ur mind up. I would go for a pci-e slot one as they have "replaced AGP".

System 1 :- Main PC: AMD XP 3200+ - OC Slightly 2.31Ghz, 1024 MB DDR PC2700, 1 x 40GB Hard Drive, 1 x 60GB Hard Drive, ATI 9600XT (256 MB)Graphics Card.
Laptop 1: 1GB DDR2 Ram, 100Gb Samsung HDD, ATI X700 128mb Graphics Card.
System 2: Downloading PC: AMD Sempron 2500+, 512 MB DDR PC2700, 1 x 40GB Hard Drive.

Thanks for your input but what I really wanted to know was that if the pci/e card was better than the agp card because of the memory difference.

no because the agp is being discontinued which the pci/e is taking over from.

PCIe is newer, faster and cheaper. Go PCIe.

I have the x700Pro which is a great AGP card. BTW, how, if at all, can I unlock more pipes?

First of all you need to establish whether the card has the pipes to start with. Only some cards have them disabled, far more just physically don't have them. If you do have them, then modified BIOS software is available to perform the operation. However, this will void the warranty of the GPU, so if you mess it up, you're paying for another card.

Can't say for sure that this will work, but try this:
http://www.overclock.net/faqs/20627-x700-pro-x700xt-mod.html always remember to make a backup of your BIOS before flashing it.

Being the same price, is the X800 XL DVD Edition 256MB PCIE better than the X800 XL 256MB PCIE?

Also, how does the Radeon X850 XT 256MB PCIE compare to the above two?

The X850XT is significantly faster than the X800XL. I've not heard of the DVD edition, but if it's all in wonder, they're a lot slower than normal cards so really look for a standard VIVO card.
