I have managed to lend a complete series from my friend which he had backed up on DVD-r's. the problem is out of the 10 disks, 8 play on my DVD fine, but 2 don't yet they do play on my PC. i've tried to copy the disks that don't work via DVd decrypter, yet the same thing happens, they work on PC perfect but not in the DVD player. When i looked at the differnce in information captured by decrypter the only diffence was one had this (the working one)

Recording Management Area Information:
PIONEER CJDC277666WL DVD-RW DVR-106D

and the other had:

Recording Management Area Information:
SONY DW-D22A BFS1

the only other diffence was the working one had a max speed yet the not working one had Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified.

Can anyone help me to sort this out so i can view them all on my DVD player??

Thanks in advance

It is possible that they are +R discs that are not booktyped to -ROM.

It looks like they were backed up on two different burners, are all the disks the same brand? Possibly they were recorded at different speeds? Have you tried running them through another program other than DVD Decrypter, possibly try it with Shrink and no compression.

and also..... what media brand are you using! If you are using Memosux..... try burning to better media that will be more acceptable to your players! Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell and most of all the others that are MADE IN JAPAN should do just fine. If you still have a problem with these brands then I would say it's the software that recorded to the discs. also keep in mind what speed did you record to disc? This will have read issues for different players! I always burn at 4x to make sure the burn is better for most players to read! Just a few issues to consider when discs are not being accepted by players.

Thanks for your help, I've tried a few things, all the disks are same but are DVD-R not +, but the one that don't read in my player but play on my PC also won't read in DVD Shrink, error is Invalid DVD Navigation Structure, what does this mean, i'm new to DVD Shrink. I can get menus up on my DVD player but when i press play it just says stop on display and does not play the selected epidsode??

bad DVD structure means that the menu won't work..... and you can't navigate the DVD itself! toss it, it's a coaster! You might be able to rip that DVD to the hard drive using DVDDecrypter then put it through another program that would correct the DVD structure. I heard that Voblanker can do that! I use DVD-RB and it corrects the structure and makes the movie work! forget about the menu though! you can salvage the movie!
