Dont' know if anyone else had this problem, but thought I would post just in case someone does. I finally put Nero 7 back in I thought enough of the problems would be fixed by now. The program works okay, however I did find a glitch in it. I contacted Nero for my SN needed to unlock the Lame MP3 encoder so I could rip some music to my comp, as I used to with 6. They sent the number but when putting it in the message I got was

Not exactly helpful, so it is back to 6 for me. I beginning to think I wasted my money on this update. Just wanted to tell you all that it looks like another update will be coming, and I hope it is soon so I can get this program fixed.

I think thats a standard auto response message. And has not changed from the release of 7.0.0.0.
Just to let you know. I know it don't help with your problem or any others that may have it. But the lame encoder and mp3pro encoder serial # of mine has no problems with being inserted into Nero 7.

Thanks for the response, just hope they get it straightened out, or I will email them to death. Just out of curiousity does your SN begin with 1A I know my old one does, just wondered if they sent me a 6 SN or something.

I cleaned out 7 reinstalled 6 and used the new number that Nero gave and it works just fine, no problems no nothing. Something is definitely wrong. I suppose I could try a reformat but I doubt if that would even work. System would just keep all the old settings.

Its not reccomended, but you could try (if you realy want to use 7) installing 7 with 6 still in place. That way 7 will remove what it wants to of 6 and might keep the encoder # on install. It would be something to try before going all the way to format.

Thanks, it is a thought. At this rate I think I really hate 7. I just wish Nero would answer my emails, I don't want to have to use 6 forever. There generated responses leave a lot to be desired.

I get exactly the same error when trying to update to 7.0.8.2.

i wanted to do a clean install, so I cleaned version 7.0.1.14 and tried the new update, but I got that error. I went back to the old version and everything works fine.
I also get the same Demo Message that the replay talks about, ever since I got 7. I wish they would get their $#it toghether.

If I weren't a guy I would kiss you, oh what the hell here is a kiss anyway XXX. It worked the SN is listed, although it is listed three times but it is there. I let it install over six with that number and it shows. Thank you from saving me pulling out more of my remaining hair.

Well, I tried, I attempted to install 7.0.8.2 without first uninstalling 7.0.1.4. Same thing, didn't work.here what happens:
If instead I click "Next, leaving the Demo SN in, it installs fine, and of course, it tells me is a trial period that will expire after x days. if i try to enter my SN afterwards, here is what I get:
So, I tried version 7.0.5.5 to see how that works(I know 7.0.1.4 works with no problems). The installation went fine, everything works good, i just haven't done any projects yet, I don't know if is bug free or not.

I cleaned out 7 and then went back and installed 6, then put in the new SN for the Lame Enc and reinstalled Nero 7. It worked except the SN is listed three times which is the number of times I tried to get it to work. For some reason the program is just not recognizing the number. That is the exact message I got to.
Edit: this is a totally seperate number from your SN for the program. You need a different SN to have your Lame Enc work. But the message you are getting is the same one I had. I just put my SN in when I installed the program and deleted out the demo one.

Well, I really don't know what is happening. I am not trying to use the mp3 plug-in, I am triyng to completely update. Version 7.0.5.5 did not work either. I tried to use Recode, and it said I needed some whatever MPEG-2 plugins, go and purchase. So, I uninstalled once again and went back to my good working version, 7.0.1.4b. It just confirms my theory, if it is not broken. don't fix it!

I had the same problem, however, I received a reply from Nero:
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for your email and your interest in our software.
Enter the lame serial number directly into the registry:
Go to your start button, go to RUN, type in regedit select ok
H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info
Right Click on the Info folder Select (New>String Value)
Right click on new string and Rename to Serial7
After changing string name, you now must modify the string (Right Click and Select Modify)
Type in your lame mp3 serial number and click OK
Note: If you use any other name than "Nero 7" for the entry the lame serial number will not be recognized by Nero !
