I know this topic has been discussed before and believe me I searched throughout this site and others but could not find a solution to the problem. I burned the iso after straight extraction and burned it after rebuilding it using the guide in this forum and used different burning program as well as 5 different types of dvd brand yet I cannot get this stupid game to load. I use swap magic and everything else I burn works flawlessly, yet this game is giving me the most trouble. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

yeah I did something like that as well.
extract the iso (got from torrentleech)
use cd_dvdgen and made the iml file
then use iml2iso
then burned the iso created by iml2iso.
so basically, exactly what you did.
i have no idea
thanks for the reply though

@ i_sux and anyone who have successfully rebuilt the game
Is there supposed to be a CG introduction in the beginning? cuz my rebuilt doesn't have one. The game just begins with battles through the streets and then fighting the BIG guy. The game works well and all, I'm just curious if there is supposed to be an intro.

Do you see the scene with Tenkai fighting the dark Ronin or w/e? Rebuilding the game shouldn't affect the cinema sequences at all.

@ alucard05
Hey, I really can't help you with rebuilding. I have a mod chip. But I wanted to comment on your choice of media. I do believe that your test burn played this time, but it won't anymore after awhile. The dye goes bad. Those brands are pretty bad. Even the TDK's have been getting a bad wrap around a.d. lately. Do you know how to check and see what the dvd media id is? If you have dvd decrypter you can check it. Check the media id and let us know.
Plus, not only will your dvd's go bad, but you'll be killing your ps2. The harder it is to read the dvd, the quicker your laser will burn out. Don't take this post wrong, I'm just trying to help out.

I didn't see any scene with Tenkai fighting the dark Ronin, nothing, zip. The game started with "Stage 1: something something" and then I was introduced to Soki and the battles started. I was kinda confused too because previous Onimushas alway have amazing intros and this one just didn't have one. I know there is supposed to be an intro cuz I saw the intro movie at ign. I rebuilt Onimusha by extracting the files using IsoBuster and then burning them with Nero. It's burnt on Taiyo Yuden dvd so it can't be the media. How did u guys rebuild the game?

I didn't rebuild it, I made a straight burn to 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD+R's booked to DVD-ROM. I burned at 4x with Alcohol 120%. Both discs play fine. Disc two scanned at a 91 with an unusally high PIF spike at the beginning, that's the lowest I've ever gotten on a TY. It seemed to play fine, so I didn't really care. I believe isuck hit the nail on the head, you must've left out the opening movie when rebuilding with Nero and IsoBuster. That's the only possibility I see. Unless you downloaded a version that had the opening movie cut out, but I haven't heard any reports of that.

i'm not exactly sure what happened with your copy, i myself didn't copy the game i went out and bought it and didn't take disc one out untill i got to disc two and its still in my ps2. i was just wondering how you were gonna switch disc, would you have to use swap magic inbetween disc, or would the disc go ahead and work? and i just wanted to say you missed the best opening sequence to a game period and i can't wait to see how the ending sequence plays out when i beat fortinbras because in the original onimusha i loved the scene when samanoske turns all super devil juice and sliced his arm down the middle and stabs him in the eye, it was my favorite game scenematic except for the opening to this onimuusha now.

I just tried backing up both disc and got it to work.
I used DVD decryptor to make the isos, then used the automatic program "Expert" auto dvd rebuilder thing to rebuild them down to about 3.9 gigs each, burnt on 8x fujis (the good kind) at 4x, booted with SM 3.6, worked first time.
Hope that helps.

oh yea duh, i wasn't thinking about putting them together, i was thinking if you burned each disc seperate. but maybe the ps2 would go ahead and recognize it and treat the disc 1 as a boot up disc?

Yeah. Disc type doesn't have anything to do with DVD-ROM games, that's for CD-ROM games only. Glad you got it working.
