Hard Drive Broken What do i do

The hard drive on my xbox is broken. I have a drive to replace it, but i dont know where to get what is needed on the hard drive. I dont really want to mod it unless its easy a free. I really just want my xbox back to how it was so i can play halo and drink beer.
could someone tell me a step by step on what i need to do! PLEASE HELP thanks

you mean the hdd completely died. Because you need stuff from it..

that happened to me once since then i learn i must have a bak up but well you might send it to some pro so maybe he can get the files you need but if it is really damaged like in my case then i hope you didn't had important stuff

yea sorry but if you want it to be fixed you are gonna need to unlock your HDD which means you need to mod it....but it is alot better than buying a new xbox...But if you try ebay xbox's are pretty cheap
Or you can tell your roommate to buy it......LOL

Okay thanks for the info.
Well i put a mod chip in if thats the only solution other than getting a new xbox. How much are they? do you guys have any sugestions on what one to get... or websites that could teach a newbie like me how its done.
Help me im a loser...

On this site has a pretty good tut......and since you have another HDD you could burn games to your xbox if you wanted...or on Ebay i saw some you could by for like 70$,.......And a modchip costs anywhere from like 30^

Yo peeps do yourselves a favor . Back up your eeprom.bin to your computer after you Softmod your xbox Incase the Retail HD dies .. Then you can always replace the HD incase the retail drive dies , plus less hassle. Meaning you won't need to buy a modchip to get the Xbox to work " <for Softmodders"
