Hi,
Just wondering if everyone could tell me in their opinion which DVD+/-RW
is the best for burning official TY's and Verbatim's as I currently own a Samsung SHW-162C and I have to say it's probably the worst burner I'v ever come across and doesn't mix well with TY and Verb's.
Regards

iam with Flip . Plextor is the way to go ,i talked to there tech support awhile back and they test ALL there drives with Taiyo Yuden media so there a perfect match "Plextor/Taiyo Yuden" and Verbatim works great also .Lite-On drives are very fond of Verbatim too

My BenQ DW1640 gets better scans out of the Yudens than my Plextor PX712a does ...
Once again I say .. the only peeps that don't think that BenQ is the best, don't have one ...

I don't believe you can find a Benq 1640 anymore (no longer are made and suppliers are out of stock)
Are the newer Benq models just as good or better with TYs and Verbs?

Many thanks on your input gonna go with the Plextor as I have heard numerous horror stories about the BenQ's as for the Liteon my mums got one of those and I use it for all my burns ATM (as my Samsung sucks ass!) as the TY's bring up around 95 PIF on 4.3GB PS2 backup which aint half bad but I am looking to improve,
Regards.
PS. Oh Yeah flip and aabbcc nice cpu's.

Hi,
If you go for a Plextor. Either get the PX755 (which is in effect a tweaked 716) or the PX760 (just had a f/w update to correct a problem with AutoStrategy.
The current range of BenQs' can give the Plextors' a run for the money particularly with MCC (Verbatim) media.

zebadee , i never heard of the PX-755 (ok its a sata drive i just looked it up) the new PX-760 18x burner looks really nice. but i would stick with the PX-716A price wize . also Plextor test there drives with Taiyo Yuden media so there a perfect match "Plextor/Taiyo Yuden" Verbatim would be my second choice
