P2P Software on University network

i am trying to use p2p software on my friends computer on a university network, but ares is the only one which works, and i find it to be very slow and not have much of the material i am looking for, any suggestions as to what other software may work. I assume it is something to do the network here, i have got fedup with looking for one works, any suggestions?

The only P2P app I use anymore is Shareaza (nothing to do with Kazaa). It connects to three P2P networks! Is opensource so its "clean" 9no viruses/spyware in the program. And since there is only 1 version there is no annoying boxes asking you to buy the "Pro" or "ultra" versions. The site is shareaza.com
