Hi, i just installed vobsub, and when i played the video files with the subtitle, it displays two subtitles. One normal one where it should be.. and a tiny one on the bottom left.. how do i get rid of the one on the bottom left?

I experienced the same yesterday. What happened was that I had re-encoded my .AVI with subtitles. All I did to rectify the problem was to turn subtitles off. So you are left with only the one that is part of the original .AVI file. I hope yours is the same case.

The other scenario might be that the original .AVI file was encoded twice with the two subtitles as only one language subtitles can be encoded at a time in ani .avi

Ah, thanks for the reply..
But that's not the same situation as mine.. my .AVI actually doesnt have any subtitles in it. i downloadeded a .sub file, and installed VobSub. i have .sub files that worked properly before i formatted, but now it displays two subtitles too. i think it has something to do with the VobSub settings.

I had the same problem and I've just found the solution, you just have to set off the "Lyrics, Captions and Subtitles" option on the media player, this option is located in the menu bar in the "Play" sub-menu.

Two sets of subtitles is generally caused by two subtitle renderers. Like say directvobsub and the players own renderer. You only need dvobsub if the player itself can't handle subs.

Not in this case, both subtitles are rendered by VobSub, it's just that media player has a built in option to disply them, and displays them in a separate area, while at the same time VobSub renders the subs over the video.

Wouldn't that mean that dvobsub was loaded twice? Doesn't seem right.
